That is something a lot of people overlook. A mass produced item will never look like a one off custom.

Well, then show us Leia lol.

Some might say Han is a lucky man..

But Han would be upset if he knew Leia's secret shame...

Yes, please. That'd be a dream.

Mikey, this is not smoke-blowing and I am being completely serious but if someone from SSC sees the job you did with this Han sculpt and doesn't think you're a good candidate to provide master paint apps for future figures then they are insane, blind or both.

Now see that Leia, she has joints, she has articulation, she can move. I don't see a problem with it.

Don't want the joints on your Leia, get a Gental Giant.

Exposed joints never bothered me, within reason. THe old Medicom bodies were ugly as sin, but had awesome articulation. I actually like the nude Sideshow female quite a bit. Leia is a CY Girl.
Some people want NO exposed joints though, which I understand, but it's just not realistic to expect all the articulation without joints.
The wire armatures just don't work very well.

Sorry to derail the thread, guys.

Grat work Mikey! What you've done makes me feel like a total jerk putting down Matts Fall's sculpt. You really did bring out the best in what Matt did. 2 Chewies for you sir! :chew :chew

Great suggestion, but there's one problem with that- Image the uproar that would be caused when we see Mikey's amazing proto-paint, expect Mikey's amazing proto-paint, and we all end up with a factory job. The uproar would be deafening! Therefore, I suggest SS make Mikey the only factory painter, and paint every single figure himself. This way we're guaranteed a great paint job. I'm sure he wouldn't mind. :D

Excellent work, as usual, Mikey!

That's true. But doesn't the factory use the prototype as a master from which to base the final paint apps from?

If so, I'd rather them shoot for something that's a 10 than something that's a 6 or 7, like the Han prototype was.

Also, I would think Mikey is smart and talented enough to be keen not to produce a master paint app that the factory could never in a million years come close to matching.

Thanks. I don't mind as long as none of you guys mind getting your figures ten years after pre-order....

Oh, never mind then. You know how some people here freak out when their order doesn't get charged on the same day as everyone else. We'd have mass panic in the streets! :lol

Anyone who wants to learn to paint 1/6 figures should start here.

I know I've posted this link before, but I have a lot of love for this guys work. He started me on the path. My techniques have changed a lot since then, but I wouldn't still be doing this if not for Tony DiTerlizzi.

EXACTLY! I have seen behind-the-scene pictures of McFarlane Toy's paint factory and the painters refer to a photograph of the prototype to help them paint.

These guys were stuck looking at the prototype Han. And they actually did a remarkable job replicating it. Now imagine if they had Mikey's version to compare to. They might have at least got the hair color right!

Mikey, great job man. Seeing your work inspires me to start learning how to paint. Maybe 10 years from now, I can be as good as you! :D

Thanks for the link Mike, I'll definitely bookmark it. Those Hasbro customs are AMAZING! :google
