I thought it was fantastic and I went in with an open mind without the nostalgia goggles on. It made sense for the story to go into the direction it did.
Anyways, I came back creeping to see if anyone had spotted the Quidditch Harry & Draco because I absolutely love the way the figures look. My guess is in a couple of weeks they should start showing up. Dumbledore finally ended up coming this week and I absolutely love the figure.
I really hope Star Ace (I know they read this so I'm going to be very blunt) ends up sculpting Year 3 Hermione's hair. I preferred the sculpted look on the PS/SS Hermione head but I looked past it when I bought it. While I don't mind it I definitely do not prefer it. Rooted hair is always iffy on 1:6 scale figures and I got it to work on her but wish it was sculpted. With Dumbledore and Hagrid that is completely understandable as there would be barely any articulation and they could only stare forward.
I really hope they end up sculpting her hair and making a Year 3 Ron in his red sweater. Year 3 had some of the best costumes and iconic looks for the characters so I think theyd be great sellers. They just need to end up manufacturing a little less of Ron if that was really that big of an issue with the younger versions. If they end up sculpting Hermione's hair I could see that being a great seller as well as making a Ron, POA is regarded as one of the best Potter films. SA could even end up taking a leaf from Big Chief's book and do a build a Dementor figure with the three of them where the parts snap together from the three figures to make a stand alone dementor figure - that could encourage more people to get Ron as well since thats been noted as an issue. Doing the trio from this film, a McGonagall, definitely Bellatrix, a Deathly Hallows part 2 Harry (possibly with Kreacher? Not sure where to place him), a Dementor (Monsters +Villians always sell best with figures), Quirrell (Alternative head with Voldemort on the back and an Angry Quirrell), Lupin, Tonks, Luna, Half Blood Prince Draco, Umbridge, and of course an OOTP Suit Voldemort variant (maybe even a GOF jet black flowing robes version) would all be sure hits.
Overall I just want Star Ace to succeed as much as possible with this line, they've already invested into so many characters and the passion is definitely there. I think getting word out to the big HP sites like Mugglenet and Snitchseeker is essential. We are now in the weird phase where most the early HP fans are now growing into adults and these figures should be geared toward that audience. They've got to make wise choices coming up, and if Im going to be honest I don't think the casual variations of the trio, first task Harry or the Yule Ball Hermione were very good choices. I still see that Harry in stock in a lot of places, and I worry that with Hermione it will not do good given it is just a figure of her in a dress. You can't really do too many fantastic poses from key scenes when she was just in a dress for about 9 minutes - if that. I think it also sidelines Hermione to be seen as just a girl in a dress and it would be great to see badass DHp2 Hermione in her hoodie and jacket instead. I feel like people will view it as meh kind of like the GOF Harry. Then again I could be wrong and it may attract the doll collectors for the outfit and character. Its really a toss up.
I'm thrilled to know Dumbledore has sold out at Sideshow and a lot of other places, theres definitely interest in this line. I feel like there have been a couple hiccups and its easy to overcome but I just hope they make wise choices in the future. I want to be collecting these for years
Anyways just some ramblings, I hope they end up seeing some of this because they've got something really great on their hands and its been getting just better and better along the way collecting these.
