began to resculpt the smirk face
its just not jack sparrow
so i added more cheeks (this guy has some serious ones), different lips, nose is on the list
this is without eyes and VERY very roughly painted and i already like it more ;-)
i can only fail, since its almost impossible to get the perfect look of hot toys sculpts, but i want a smiling dirty jack sparrow and not gay ken with js-outfit ;-)

almost spot on there. In fact I would agree that JS (or should I say depp) does have that extra cheek and he smiles just like that in most parts of the pirates movies. Problem though is that you should post a clearer pic of the modded sculpt to see if what I think is truly correct.

and holy cow what a figure he is indeed! i almost feel stupid for doubting it those few times.

The serious face is just definitely whitout a doubt Depp! the smirking/smiling face is not 100% but it definitely looks more like Depp than I've seen in any pictures (no offense to the great photographers that have more skill taking pictures than i could ever have) which was also a nice surprise.

and the Rudder! freaking fantastic piece!

every detail looks ace!

my only very minimal complaints are 2: my compass dial wasn't properly place so I'm going to have to sort that out; and the smiling sculpts PERS is incredibly stiff. I normally wouldn't be afraid of breaking but with the recent breakage of my DX01 Joker's PERS, that was kind of off putting since I'm on that loves PERS.

But, I would just blabber on and on about how awesome this figure is but most of you guys already know that so there's no point

But really, I just cannot stop looking at this!

I had the same Idea as I'm a big fan of Curse but don't like the others

I also made a major surgery and cut down part of the head, re-sculpted the scull and used mohair which i painted with acrylics and then "dredded it" when it was near dry - the ornaments, vest and belt are from the older HT sparrow figure - hope you like it

Still not 100% happy with the scarf - will try to replace that when I find a better solution

Looks cool okieh2! You beat me to it! I ordered some black mohair yesterday to see if I could add some real hair in with mine.

I have the original Hot Toys jack figure but do not have the funds to get the DX with Batman right around the corner. However, I have always been disappointed with the headsculpt on the original figure and didn't want to pass up the opportunity to at least make it look a little more like the character. As such, I bought the DX Jack head and hat off eBay to at least upgrade my old figure and have it better resemble Johnny Depp. I haven't received he head and hat yet and am wondering how it is going to look. Anyone have an idea as to how the DX head on the original figure might look? I am a little worried that the head will look too small since original Jack had broad shoulders. Also, does anyone know if the head will fit without any mods?

Mine was the same way on both. I used the water trick that was posted earlier and mine work great now.

If you have the original figure completely as it came, original body and all, the DX head will look small on it, if you can get an HT slim body or the DX body, that'll help. Also, unless you get either of those bodies, you'll probably have to shave off some of the neck to put the DX head onto it, but the Slim TT necks are smaller and wouldn't need that and of course the DX body is good to go.
