From about 2009 onward has been a golden age for Terminator figures, not at Iron Man levels by any means but we wouldn't want it to be. A Hot Toys Kyle Reese wouldn't go amiss though.

Oh one other observation about the Ultimate T-800 - he's shorter than the previous T2 T-800s and kinda shorter than even the current T-1000. Hopefully the new articulation will have a corresponding shortening effect on the Ultimate T-1000. Hopefully also the QC on that one will be a heck of a lot better than the previous T-1000 releases which broke in every location possible.

The size thing is interesting, I'm curious how Sarah will scale with everyone, if she's shorter relative to other ultimates she'll be shorted compared to original T-800s.

Disgusted that my Ultimate T-800 didn't arrive today. I need a fix, even if it is a figure with only a small variation on what I already have.

oh and I ordered the Genisys figures too

I'll probably only pick up Ultimate Sarah now, just too many figures on the near horizon.

Cool idea with the custom Guardian. I have the same thing in mind for the 2017 version, putting a full endoskeleton arm on that one, I already know how I'll do it. Didn't think of it for the wave 1 figure though.

Hot Toys figures? I've only got Batman Returns Batman to worry about. I've dabbled with the idea of not getting him but that hasn't worked out for me on a few things the past week or two.

Thanks! Cool idea, I was thinking about giving him a polymimetic arm or something.

Also, since they give us two heads with the 2017 version, I'm going to buy two and fix the damage on his chest to have a regular undamaged version and a beat up one.

Speaking of that, how did his arm end up healing over time? What exactly do you think he did waiting for Sarah and Kyle for 33 years? I imagine him working at a McDonald's or DMV or something...

Ah you've got all the ideas - that's another one I didn't think of

the sword arm, although it's so brief and would also require a non BD chest.

Not sure I want to spend that much on Genisys, by buying any at all I've already exceeded my plan let alone buying multiples for creating every possible variant.

As for the movie question - well we know two things he did while he was waiting for 2017 - he set up that base of operations and weapons stash and he also worked in the construction of the Skynet facility specifically so he could devise the plan for destroying it when Sarah and Reese arrived. Beyond that :dunno

Wait a sec... after careful review of the film, I can't spot that chest damage ANYWHERE on the 2017 Guardian... maybe NECA took creative license or it was from an early concept?!?

How are you thinking of doing the arm, a-dev? I mean, I'll obviously scavenge the left arm off that extra endo I've got, but I'm not sure how the joints are going to work out, i.e. where the shoulder joins the body...

Ahhh, maybe another case where they just didn't have the most up-to-date reference material. Previous T2 and T1 T-800 figures could supply a non BD chest if you have spares but if you know how to fill in and paint over the damage I guess that's a better idea.

^that's a part harvested from the McFarlane endoskeleton where the arm connects to the body. Using it will involve some severe mutilation of the figure but the damage will be hidden by the jacket. Immediate fully articulated endoskeleton arm now possible.

Although that's not what I intended with this figure:

I wanted a wider leg stance for this one so used the McFarlane Movie Maniacs legs and torso with the NECA head, arms and jacket. I switched out the joints in the NECA shoulders to allow them to attach via that McFarlane Endoskeleton piece on both sides. Oh and there's a ball-joint from a NECA figure allowing the NECA head to fit the McFarlane torso.

It actually throws his proportions off a bit, giving him longer legs and slightly too wide shoulders but Arnie was a mess at that point anyway with the prosthetic arm attachment making him wider on one side.

Yeah, among other companies. I'm starting to feel a bit overwhelmed...I don't want to end up like many a neophyte collector who buys everything under the sun only to have regrets later.

Awesome work! Clever use of parts!

Yeah, I'm handy with putty and paint so I'll probably fix that torso damage on the 2017 Guardian.

I did an SA T2 T-1000 this morning too, pics later (gotta go to work)...

I can't find any size comparison photos anywhere, could you help us out?

and how far forward can the T-800's leg kick out. Every photo/review just shows it in a neutral stance. Could it sit on a Motorcycle?

Appreciate it.

It could, but maybe more like the movie poster than a proper bike-riding pose. With no ab crunch and not even a full 90degrees of knee bend....

I finally got to open up my T-800 Guardian. Eyes are not as bad as they looked from the outside of the package. Sculpt is not too bad pretty good and details look good on everywhere else. Overall a nice addition to the collection. It really is a cool figure for the price and as a Arnie fan im satisfied. Pics below but the pictures make the paint look terrible when it's really not that bad and I can't wait for the pops version.

I actually like the final Guardian more than the prototype, but one aspect I don't like is every NECA T-800 seems to get T2 looking hair instead of being unique to each film, even the T1s resemble T2 more than T1.
