All it asks is 'Which Figure do you want to see Rainman Customize Next?'.

Seems fine to me:monkey1

I don't want to cast a shadow over this thread, but what exactly makes it official? Are you a spokesman for Rainman, chilipep? Why doesn't Rainman start his own thread to make it official?

If it's just your idea chilipep, as a possible aid, what makes you think Rainman would be interested? Does he even know about this thread to even read it? Will you be presenting him with this information sometime? I'm sure any artist will make whatever his heart wants, when he wants, as he wants. He wouldn't need suggestions from us, or has he asked for help somewhere?

Sorry, but I just don't get it.

Zuno, who has been Rainman's liaison on this forum for months asked:

O.K. Friends~

Please let us know what Rainman should do next after 'The Ugly' figure.
Rainman and I will discuss with your hoping lists.
Simply list up and put some pics if you can...
We would greatly appreciate your participation

Everyone went ballistic with great opinions on what to do next, but it was filling up the GBU customs thread. Seems more appropriate this way :duh

sorry guys I didn't mean to step on any toes! I just saw that all the responses were going in a thread that really wasn't on topic, and I heard a few people suggest a poll as a more organized way of surveying, so I started a new topic. If it violates the rules, close er up

Thanks KBA and chilipep for cluing me in. Sorry to jump the gun with the 'Fail' post. Cheers :duff

Just change the damn thing to a "would you go *** *** *** if Hot Toys made " X

Really its kind of academic given Rainman's stuff is so limited - and I'd want to know how many folks suggesting figures would fork out at the price of Rainman's products (and that's not a complaint - I've got both Van Cleefs and the Blondie).

Zuno is a regular contributor to OSW, and has begun coming here only recently. I don't think he's gotten the full demanding flavor of "discussions" here, but the response to his invitation in the GBU thread quickly became a full debate between members over each others' suggestions that sounded as if many people thought they were directing a private commission.

I doubt that Zuno knows that when Rainman's first Chaplin was posted here, it drew extensive ridicule. I remember, because I ignored the comments and bought the figure.

I think that anyone who wants to should toss in their suggestions until Zuno says,"stop, that's enough ideas." Prioritizing through a poll, however, suggests expectations.

we are a passionate bunch for good and bad. I hope zuno and rainman don't take us too seriously. The cool Chaplin figure would not have been made if it were up to polling or begging and pleading. :p

I think we're safe there, EC -- I just hope Rainman comes back to post. I have two ways of approaching him indirectly (Zuno, obviously, being one), but I've been told that he doesn't make direct contact with Westerners because of the language barrier. I wonder whether those of us who speak English take note of how often people from other parts of the world apologize to us for their tentative grasp of English. Arnie Kim always used to ask my patience with his English; incredible really. When you think of how cyberspace isn't really tethered to any geographic locale...how many of us will make the effort to learn Korean, and considering the wealth of talent there, why not?

Funny you say that. I was thinking the same recently when reading about the new film Bakjwi (Thirst) from Chan-wook Park. Anyone who hasn't seen Oldboy really should.

Kamsahamnida, rainman & zuno! :)

?... I don't get your first statement. This poll was made because Zuno asked us to give ideas for Rainman's next project after Tuco. It's not another pointless thread.

I don't know if I'm interpreting you correctly. But if I am I feel a bit offended that anyone and everyone whos surfing these boards gets a say just to pass up on the product when it comes and it isn't affordable. I only own his Lee Van Cleef from GBU but that isn't by choice I just missed out on the other releases.

That's a very good point. There's a lot of us who could and would have bought the figures if we were lucky enough not to miss it. I luckily got Clint and Angel Eyes but on the off chance that I might miss one of the others, it would not make me want to see it made any less.

In fact I can say with certainty that the guys who were posting requests and pics after Zuno inquired as to what we'd like to see next have all been long time followers of Rainman's work and they've all at least attempted to get his customs if not are always first in line to buy his stuff when Zuno puts it up for sale. I've followed the thread, they all were a part of this.

I think these guys who are posting these silly "Fail" posts and trying to dispute the purpose of this thread are going to end up with a lot of egg on their face if they actually took the time to look through the GBATU Thread before making comments beforehand.

So this IMO is not a violation of board policies, if it is the mods can get rid of it, and if not then everyone who is not going to contribute ideas and support of Rainman's work should just stop wasting the rest of our time.

I'm closing this thread until I get an OK from Dave that it is ok.

This kind of thread is very dangerous and the kind I want to avoid.

I don't think it's really in anyone's best interests to get anyone speculating about sculpts that will never exist.
