Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

First Joe: Snow Job

Last Joe: Tunnel Rat

Though I did pick up an 89 SE in high school just to have a little display piece for my shelf.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

My last? Hmm I bought the first couple waves of the 25th figures and then sold them all. I kept Major Bludd and he is on my desk at work, so I guess he is the last.

Last of the Vintage run? I think the 30th Sailor figure.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

straight arm short-fuze at lionel was my first.

:lol prog, my 2nd was breaker...how's that for exciting? even to a kid, communication between joes and star wars figures was essential.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

I remember getting the Vamp (straight-arm clutch) and the rest of the straight-arm Joes in '82. Admittedly, I collected them long after I should've stopped ('94 with the SF figures :lol).

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

I gave most of my 25th's to my nephew. I kept the '84 Cobras (Firefly, Storm Shadow, Baroness, Scrap Iron, Hooded Cobra Commander, Zartan) and Destro. I almost regret giving him my Rattler, but only because he got to keep Wild Weasel. That's okay though, because I know Sideshow will make him.

My first Joe was Short Fuze straight arm, and my last was Snow Serpent.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

man, the vamp was such an epic vehicle. that thing had to have close to 200k miles by the time i was done with it.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

Ha, there's ongoing threads in both SW and GI Joe covering favorite vintage vehicles now. :rock

My favorite in GI Joe was absolutely the Killer Whale. There were so many though. The Stinger, Water Moccassin, Rattler and Snow Cat were also extremely high for me.

:monkey2:monkey2:monkey2 That was always a major want that I never got. :lol

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

The Rattler was the one that broke my heart. :monkey2

The 25th version was a godsend, but I decided the kid needed it for Christmas. I think I'm going to hunt down a vintage one.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

My parents never did buy me many vehicles. I doubt I had anything that was over $15 at the time. I had the platform that looked like an oil rig with a helecopter pad on it. And I remember having the bridge layer.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

I don't recall what my first Joe was. Last probably was something during the Tiger Force era.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

Got all of 82' Joe's on a trip to Arizona. My birthday had just passed so I had some money. I got all the figures, the glider and the S.N.A.K.E. armor. Good times.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

Its amazing to scan through Yojoe.com and see some of the original pricing on these.

The Flagg was only $90. How much would something like that be in today's prices?

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

:exactly: Firefly is what really got me to buy into this line. In my opinion he is the best figure in the line besides Snake Eyes. I don't know anyone familiar with the G.I. Joe characters who would look at him and not recognize him as Firefly. And I don't know many who don't think the sideshow design is cool but like all this stuff, that is a matter of opinion. I really don't want figures looking like the first releases (especially Shipwreck). I want them updated. Plus G.I.Joe has always updated the figures and characters with every release. I think some are stuck on certain looks because of the cartoon. To me their looks are not set in stone as some would say. I even think they should start updating their bios.:horror

Wait, who WOULDN'T want a sailor Shipwreck?! LOL! I could imagine him coming with a dark blue peacoat so he doesn't look that much like a civilian.

As for Firefly, he's just a cool concept of a character entirely so he will win in any variation they present him in. He's that cool. BUT.. as cool as he is, the customs I've seen in this forum bringing him closer to the toon look really amazing. I'd buy any one of those in a heartbeat.

And again, I'm not against updating looks, but it should be kept to a minimum. Have anyone seen the Cobra Commander w/ faceplate polystone statue? That's an outfit I can totally get behind. I also really like Devil's Due version of Storm Shadow and wouldn't mind seeing that made. So, no, I'm not stuck in the toon but prefer it if what they're giving us is (my opinion) uglier than the original. With most of the Joes, it's likeness on the headsculpts that bother me most.

Funny, I don't recall Coheteboy ever posting in the Joe section before and he is all up in hur on the CG!!

I like his passion for the Vintage look. And t least he sticks to his guns. Most fold and log out.

Thanks, EvilFace, and no I never post in here because I know this forum's tendency to defend Sideshow 90% of the time so I choose my battles.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

Thats probably fairly reasonable...toys seem to have gone up faster than overall inflation though.
