Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

I just snagged a minty carded vintage Road Pig last week.

Only vintage MOC I plan on buying since he was my favorite as a kid. Not saying much for the character just the card art and 3.75 always looked so badass.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

Good pull. He first showed up during the invasion of Cobra Isalnd, no?

No, I think he was a bit earlier than that. If I recall correctly, he was a character even before the IG uniforms were introduced... not sure exactly when, but I think it was well before those figures were introduced.

Nice, I gotta get me a Road Pig at some point. One of the big holes in my vintage collection - I've neglected '88 and other later years.

Big problem is trying to find '88 and '89 figures without elbow cracks...

I couldnt pass it up. I have a hard enough time finding a loose road pig....??wtf??? Sorry that didn't come out right.

Think I hit my stride with joes in 87-88. I atleast know I didnt care bout other toys then.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

My problem with Road Pig is his armor never staying on right or something like that. Mine was basically fighting his battles topless. haha

You know what, you're right. He was in the issue where Flint and Lady Jaye went to Scotland to help Destro. Cobra Commander had Major Bludd pretend to be Destro to take over Destro's forces.

First issue with Ron Wagner art, who for my money was the best artist on the Joe comic (with the exception of the few issues Hama drew).

Yeah, I couldn't remember which issue that was, but they were all pretty normal looking soldiers in it.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

One exclusive CG ordered for me. Looks nice. I bet the shiny patent leather will end up looking nice on the final product. I hope.

I think so too.

In the first shot, it was all you could see, so it was really "in your face". Seeing it with the rest of the body, it looks a lot better, imo anyway.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

i like the way the cg's turned out. i just hope the leather sections of the uniform are a matte finish.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

The gloss on the jacket aside, this uniform is awesome. Every detail on it is a separately sculpted piece. The buttons are exceptionally cool, but I just noticed his rank insignia, his shoulder bars, the wrist straps, the quality of the cord. Really impressive.

:lecture
If it wasnt for the gloss jacket, the figure would be perfect.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

I agree.

I know they can find something thinner than that material, and with less shine. Doesn't even have to be cloth. I like the idea of a leather uniform a lot, but that material does not work on any level.

It will be too amazing for words if they can manage to solve that one flaw. I only have one ordered, but I would be very tempted to go for two if they succeed in raising this bar for themselves.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

I'm not sure I understand the whole spur thing. Is there a purpose for them for the character. Does a silly decision on the classic need to translate to the new figure?

It's just one of those unique features that make the character special. As EF has already said, the uniform is ceremonial.

Re: Offical Sideshow Crimson Guards!

Think this guy is worth a double buy? Or is it a safe gamble that SSC will release the Crimson Officer...like around the time of SDCC 2012?:lol
