My two $.02
Pros:
Paint apps are generally excellent, possibly the best I have seen in SST Star Wars releases to date. The only two gripes I have would be the odd brown coloring added to Anakin's eye sockets near the nose and his lips look like he is wearing pinkish lipstick. The Rotta paint job is just nuts, close to perfection and the eyes look very life like.
The custom hand sculpts are brilliant with the right one being the black mech glove and brown leather on the left - nice detail. The gauntlets are also very well done, this is going to be a popular parts figure I think.
Cons:
The headsculpt does not work for me - it only looks like Anakin from certain angles, otherwise it looks very apelike with the prominent forehead, chin and cheeks and the dark paint apes (ooops apps) in the eye sockets do not help. It is also far too anime looking for my taste and it looks very Hasbro-ish to me.
The outfit while overall good looking, has some serious shortcomings. Mine was not put together well with the blue cape folded backwards under the shoulder armor. There is now a permanent crease that is noticeable once I righted it. The boots look good sculptwise but they are too big and my left boot is very warped so I will need to return it to SST most likely as it impacts the figures balance. The chest armor is too small, closer to 1/7 than 1/6 which makes it ride far too high on the figure. This should be easy to fix with the old heat trick (spread it wider), but at this price point I am getting tired of needing to this with every armored figure from SST. The shoulder panels were also glued on very crooked on mine with one way forward and one way backwards, again easy fix... but seriously? EDIT: I just looked at the shoulder panels and this will
not be an easy fix as the elastics are pegged in so maybe it was designed this way???
The accesories are OK, nothing spectacular and I feel like it wouldn't have been too much to throw in some sort of blaster. This is a clone war figure after all and he just feels a little light for $100. I also think Rotta is too big and another good candidate for an accesory would have been the backpack he carried her in, but at this size she would need a monster of a pack.
This is the first figure I have ever come close to just sending back to SST, though I am not a Clone War cartoon fan so that might add to my displeasure with the anime look. I am going to keep him, but it was a close shave.
I'd give the figure two out of five stars overall.
