I actually didn't think the M65 was worth that much, but the only recently ended eBay auction I've seen for him suggests otherwise:

This definitely wasn't the case last year when I was paying more attention to these things. I wonder if Barney is jacking up the value of these things.

I think what've you got last year was a great + lucky deal. Happy for you! :hi5: Also, we know HT increase in prices after months from it's release but after years from it's release..it doubles or triples the original price.:slap

Yes, but even auctions (not BINs) on eBay last year were no where near $400 for this guy. I recall a loose one going for $120 shipped, and boxed figures going for upwards of $200, but not much more than that. Something has changed--recently--that seems to be affecting the M65 figure. . .

My guess is Barney.

Ohh really? Damn, if I could just turn back time..I could easily get these old HTs for a good deal. Hmm maybe, Barney's sale in the market has been very good. :)

For this, I hate you "Barney" haha! :pfft: But I love that figure..awesome work by HT on him! :wink1:

As the prices of new Hot Toys figures keep going up, I think we may see more and more of this. Before Barney Ross, the old Rambo figures seemed pretty pricey at $200-250 (as that's double their original price or more). But Barney--brand new--costs almost $200. Relatively speaking, it makes sense that the older, harder to find Stallone figures are more expensive than he is. So, prices go up.

:lecture:lecture:lecture on both counts. When you compare the two figures, Rambo III comes with hella accessories and the muscle body. The M65 is on the standard TT and comes with a cotton-stuffed duffel. The math is easy on that one. And yea, I think Barney is jacking up prices. If HT announces a Rambo 4 expect these puppies to go through the roof!

Oh, oh! :horror I really need to act fast if I'm planning to get these old HT Rambos before HT announce another new Rambo figure! :slap

If HT releases a Rambo 4, those who don't already own one and have the $$$ will likely seek out one of the earlier ones (likely either the police station shoot-out version from First Blood or III) to display side-by-side. When you consider HT will likely be producing more Rambo IV than previous versions, it's really a matter of supply and demand at that point and given these figures came out years ago and are long since out of production, there's not enough supply so it's easy to see them shooting up in the standard $600-$800 of HT's older figures.

Yah, they would most likely seek those old HT Rambos esp. those completist. Dang, maybe one of these days we could see these Rambos in the level of those old Preds w/ their shocking prices..that would be a nightmare for those collectors who backtrack these old HTs like me hahaha! :slap

For me, it's a tie between Rambo III and First Blood M65 Jacket Version.. I consider them separate in terms of figure type:

If you want the iconic super-soldier Rambo version - then you should go for Rambo III.. He was a fighting machine in that movie (Rambo 3) and the most bad-ass headsculpt out of all the Rambo figures.

If you want to capture the essence of Rambo for what he was as a whole and not just as a super-soldier.. Then go for the First Blood M65 Jacket Version.

Then again, if Rambo 4 comes out, that would be the ultimate Rambo figure for me. :clap

Voted for M65 Jacket version, as I based my decision on the movie it was based out of, since I couldn't choose between the figures.

Its a tie for me, but if I had to choose one I would go with MMS 65 to avoid a Rambo III rotten body.

Ha ha, whoa. :thud: But seriously if you have to ask a bunch of guys what to buy then I'd say buy the M65 Jacket version. He won't fall apart and break your heart.

Thankfully the Pt. III shows no signs of deteriorating. I'm gonna throw my M65 on a TTA once I unpack him though to beef him up a bit. The regular TT just doesn't cut it and the jacket should hide the skintone differential.
