Daaaaayyaaaaammmmm!

I don't care. I love the books. I don't have to love the author. You think I want to spend an hour alone with George Lucas? Nooot really. The man seems like a real stick to me. But I do enjoy his little films.

Thats a pretty good article... not really familiar with all the details, but it does sound like she's just trying to squeeze a bit more from her works.

Oh it's written by Scott Card! He's my Dad's second cousin or something and they were college roommates for years, so I read his stuff now and then since he and my dad are like brothers. Super nice guy, writes the funniest Christmas newsletters in the world. But he really does not like Rowling, as you can tell. I have never seen him rant like this before, so he must really have something against the woman. :lol

So she claimed after the fact in some interview. I don't believe it, nor will I consider it canon. I think she was just looking for publicity, and she got it, to the anger of millions of her fans. Scott does have a point; now that the series is finished she doesn't seem content to sit back and enjoy her appalling wealth. I think she's become too attached to her massive fame.

Hahaha, I hate her. I of course have only seen the moives and do enjoy them, but she is a crock. All I have ever heard from the books is that she stole peoples ideas left and right and some really agregously. I love this little excerpt from the article:

"It's like her stupid, self-serving claim that Dumbledore was gay. She wants credit for being very up-to-date and politically correct -- but she didn't have the guts to put that supposed "fact" into the actual novels, knowing that it might hurt sales."

As the author points out all writers gleen and get ideas from other sources, so thats not the big issue. Just that she will benefit, but try to deny it to others.

That dude is pissed.

I love how authors love to claim that everyone after them stole their ideas. These stories are as old as time. Get over yourself.

And the only thing Rowling is doing is trying to stop the publication of an unauthorized encyclopedia so she can publish her own in a few years. Whats wrong with that?

And Dumbledore is gay, read the books. The only reason she never stated it was because it didn't matter to the story.

Her work is in the public domain which means anyone has the right to publish referential books on anything shes written. Which is why she is going to have to pay through the nose when she loses this case. :lol

Eh I've read them a million times and I still don't buy it. She really is craving attention, and now more than before. Many and more complete such works had been published for years during the run of the series, but now that it's finished she has time to quibble over pointless matters. Again it shows that money can never make you happy; it's how you see the world.

Yeah, but if you had as much money as she does, wouldn't you at least TRY to get the book stopped?

No exactly because I (hypothetically) had that much money.

Really, a publication run of 10,000 wouldn't even dent any projected earnings from the reference book she plans. The whole thing is just plain laughable.

Yup, all he has to do is site her books as the source and he is free and clear. She is gonna be screwed when this gets to an actual court. Hell, she even stated that she used his site for reference and gave him an award for how complete his website was. :lol

If anyone here wrote something on the level of Harry Potter you would act the exact same way as she is. Why is it bad for her to want to protect and control HER story.

I love the books and the movies, but she's WAY too full of herself. I totally agree with that statement about the supposed fact of "Dumbledore is gay" as well. If she had thought that out before hand ( which i don't think she did ) then have the guts to put it in your book instead of using it as post series completion publicity.

i think everything has been written about at one time or another. if card is so convinced that his work was stolen, why doesn't he let the courts decide instead of whining about it? :monkey2

I don't think that was his point. I took it as him using that as an example to show that her lawsuit is bull^^^^, just like his claim would be, while also taking a shot at her.

Exactly what I am saying. Some people just love to hate successful people.
