I was at work when this came on and I was a bit busy so, by the time I got around to checking, it was gone. I was completely pissed that the ES was so low. It's almost guaranteed my waitlist won't convert. I'm a big zombie fan but I don't have the 1:6 stuff since it doesn't appeal to me but this piece is awesome and the severed hand makes the piece in my opinion.

Another guarantee is that the majority of the people with a pre-order are most likely gonna flip it and it's gonna probably sell for a ridiculous amount due to the low ES and the desperation of some people to get their hands on it. Myself, I will be watching but I'm not gonna break my bank on this one.

It's a single piece and if SS wants to make more PF's in this line and do it with some style they will make some that will outshine this one by leaps and bounds.

Seems to me that it's the variants shying folks away from the line and not any new figure. I think collectors want original creations and not rehashes of the same figure they already have on their shelves.

And if cancellations are used as a gauge of whether a line is alive and kicking or dying, then the collectors are helping Sideshow dictate ES and the future of the line.

I agree with ya Choop. I don't think the issue if there is one would be new figures at all but the number of variants. You can get away with variants or a ton of them with Hasbro figures because they're still cheap for the most part. However, when you go doing #3 or #4 of a figure and they're in the $60-70 range it does make a huge difference.

I origionally go into the dead line with subject 805. he looked great, but due to the significant paint change on the final product, I cancelled him. I just couldn't justify the cost of shipping for a figure I only considered OK. I thought the babysitter was awesome when she came out, but didn't have the money for her, so I skipped it. I was glad I did when they started making multiple copies with different paints. With international shipping, I almost Double the cost of any 12" I order and when I do order, I like the figure to be unique. Multiples in the dead line really turned me off. Now I have since picked up the babysitter after market and she's great, so I ordered subject 2221 to keep her company, I just need to build a confessional. This line I think has suffered from some poor management on SC's part as it's quicker to do a repaint and sell out for some fast cash than to do a new sculpt. In the long run this has done more damage than good. Now the new PF line was a chance for people who have waffled back and forth with the dead to start anew and I think SC missed the boat again with the small exclusive number on the first piece.

But there was a fall-off of interest in the dead line! When Babysitter variant #3, then #4 and finally 805 variant #3 came out, people started losing interest fast! Many said they were dropping the line... others said they were no longer completists... almost all were disappointed in the number of variants. Go to the Sideshow site and look at The Dead figures...

Subject 2221 EX 750 ES and still not sold out
Subject 2221 750 ES and still not sold out
Subject 805 Spook ED 300 ES and still not sold out
Subject 1025 Spook Ed 700 ES and still not sold out and on Gift Card!
Subject 138 EX 500 ES and on Second Chance
Subject 138 TBD ES and still not sold out

...it used to be that The Dead figures sold out pretty quickly... not anymore. Isn't that waning interest???

The fact that nobody's really picking what's left on Sideshow's website isn't because they don't like the dead line. Not at all. It's because all but the Harbinger are variants. And they're not a 2nd release either. We're talking 3rd and 4th tier variants. Most already own one and a second of THE SAME FRIGGIN' ZOMBIES! So saying interest is waning due to the poor decision to cheap out and re-release 3rd and 4th variants of figures who already had 2 variants is borderline idiotic. Instead of saying "interest is falling" and blaming the fans/collectors, Sideshow should take the blame themselves and should be saying, "damn, I think we @#$%ed up making too many variants." The proof is right here in the forums. People saw it as a cheap cash-in. I can't tell you how many times I read that. Sideshow would know this had anyone been paying attention to The Dead threads during Spook when these additional variants were announced. I did my part and picked them all up but damn, even I was starting to groan about it. :lol If they haven't run off most of the collectors with said variants, the Harbinger will sell out as well. As for the variants, well, that's nobody's fault but Sideshows for reproducing the same figures with a minor change (multicolored BDUs?! is this The Dead or Power Rangers?! :rotfl) and expecting us to buy it.

It's just the times, the Prophet EX is still available in-stock. :lecture

Can SideshowDusty explain to us why they chose to have such a low ES for the Exclusive version for such popular figure? I even talked to someone that works at Sideshow and she was surprised with the Es too.

Scroll back. Dusty's "explanation" is here. Basically, they're blaming YOU! :lol

Well limiting PZ to 100 pieces sure created some interest. The question is, is it positive or negative? You have a core base of fans for this type of figure I would think. By limiting the main character in this line are you going to create more interest or alienate and piss off your core customers? I would think the latter. But that's just my opinion, it doesn't mean I'm right. One thing for sure is they created more interest in the newsletter. :lol

It's funny. I was talking with a buddy today and realized they could've done an awesome job if they'd just released 300 of them, no Ex, just like the original (could've even charged more to compensate for the cost). But I think they went about it the wrong way. In the end, I think yes, while they did capture a fair amount of those collectors with disposable incomes who like zombies and/or collect PFs but don't collect "dolls," they really scorned their hardcore base that's been supporting the line from the present to back when it first began with PZ.

Well... yea the edition size of 100 really was a bit of a shocker! I thought they would up it just because so many people missed out on the original PZ but then again, people at least this time around have an opportunity to own the original... just not the exclusive version.

they really should have made the exclusive ES 300 like the original pz.

that would have kept most people happy.:monkey1

They all sell out eventually -- yep even the Van Helsing PF. :horror:D

I'm looking forward to telling my children and grandchildren about that day....how SSC kept the Van Helsing PF on 15% off during each and every Spooktacular. That even though Hugh Jackman by that most will be long gone his PF will still be on sale.
