The regular and exclusive wont say "international edition" on the base. I'm willing to bet this is in addition to the 300 regular and 100 exclusives.

I'm lost. "175" What's that in reference to?

Ex=100
Non-Ex=300
International=125

Where is 175 now coming into play?

:lol
sorry..

I was just thinking 125 (international) + 175 (regular US version) = 300.

but that's probably wrong.

That was kind of where I was coming from. I think it's possible for 125 of the 300 are set aside for the "international piece" In other words, maybe the number is always different, but they set some aside of the total allotment for the international distributors.

I don't necessarily think ours will be labeled #/175 though. Probably still say #/300

Again, if true this is quite dishonest, unless it was stated on a certain piece from the beginning.

i'd like some answers from sideshow to be honest the low ES is one of the things that attracted me to this statue in the first place and then they do another 125? fair enough its still a low overall number but Sideshow are just lying obviously if this is an official statue the ES on the regular is now 425...

Part of the appeal of this hobby is the limited nature. This is not the same as collecting mass produced statues. If it were, I don't know that I would be interested nearly as much. I know adding 125 to the total ES isn't quite the same as mass producing these but still...Actually it's something similar.

No. The Exclusive should have #/100 on the base and the standard #/300 on the base. The 175 number is puzzling.

Not really. That's probably how many bootlegs were produced off of the authentic one stolen from the factory. :lol There would have to be more than a little white arm band to differentiate this piece as an International Exclusive with it's own Es, like different colored clothes, a different paint scheme, different base, etc. All of Sideshow's other international exclusive pieces looked significantly different from the regular versions. That's another reason this piece screams bootleg.

So you guys are saying that if this had a es of say 750 you would have no interest?

here we go.

Some collectors fancy the low ES of the piece (myself included), in addition to the piece itself. It's a different mentality, that I guess some fans don't share. Doesn't mean one way of collecting is better than the other way or you're any better of a fan if you still buy a piece that has an ES of 1,000,000.

I think that the Spider-man bust variant was tame too. I only notice the difference if I'm really thinking about it.

Scott, is there really that big of a difference to you guys between 300 and 425?

(That's an honest question. :angelsmil)

Yes, it makes a difference. Every PF a buy from SS loses value, so atleast a lower edition will make me feel more confident about my purchase. Plus "rarity" is key to collecting or no one would be collecting stamps or coins :D.

But this just seems like another cheap move by sideshow. Milking another statue.

Looks to me like the factory that Sideshow gets their pieces from lacks any integrity and is producing these on the side.

I'm judging that from the speed this "edition" has come out, closeness to accuracy, the imaginative inclusion of an international edition following the 12" line. It all reeks of insider bootlegs.

it doesn't sound like much of an increase (300 vs. 425), but it's still a larger edition size that we weren't made aware of. And it does matter to me. I'm still getting it, but I think this will negatively impact the value.

The Thing (Marvel) PF is an awesome piece. I love it, great sculpt, cool exclusive, good complimentary piece to the Hulk. No reason why that thing shouldn't have begun climbing in value by now, except for that fact that it was overproduced with an Exclusive (750), Regular (1000), and International (250). The piece can be found for much less than retail on Ebay now.

So yes, when I'm spending ~$300 on a luxury item I don't need, I would like the assurance that I can always sell it in the future for what I paid for it, hopefully more. We can save the "You shouldn't collect to make money, you should collect because you like it" debate for some other thread.

It's just bad form on SS part to not advertise this piece and try and slip it by the fans. I have no delusions that SS isn't in this business for the money, that is the goal of any successful company, but this one example does seem to be a shady way of squeezing more profit out of a popular item, at the fan's expense.

It sucks, but they never do.

The people harping about this being a bootleg mostly seem to be forgetting that SS has done this in the past.

Its definitely a shotty paintjob compared to the original prototype.

Its expected to a point but they really lost a ^^^^load of detail from proto to production...not to mention a lot of the original look is lost. I would rate this one more of a loss than the Indy PF in terms of difference from start to finish.

What do you expect, this is the quality known as SSC. They obviously haven't put their QC in check yet, or they are knowingly allowing these "short-cuts" to take place to save some $$$, like with the Moria Orc.

I wonder what will be different about the "International Version"? Just the text that states Interantional Version on the base, heh.
