I was at the Pan's Labyrinth booth this year at SDCC watching the trailer when this girl (who was a hottie I might add) walked up and said, "Ooh, this looks interesting" and I overheard her saying something about Dark Crystal and Labryinth being her two favorite movies. I told her that I thought Pan's was gonna blow those two movies outta the water; I told her to watch the trailer and see for herself. After the trailer was over, she turned to me with a huge grin and said, "I think you may be right, that was awesome". I can not wait to see this. Gruff, I am full with envy!!

Well it didn't beat Labyrinth nor The Dark Crystal for me :p:p But it was an awesome movie as I said above.

As i heard many doesnt liked the movie because they expected more fantasy, i think it got a lot of fantasy and cool violent parts,it the best movie i saw in the whole year

DYING TO SEE IT!!!! And...

Could it indeed be the Sideshow mystery License of January 1????
Think not? Consider how fond SS has been of Del Toro with plenty of Hellboy as well as the ultra-low edition-of-love piece, the "Santi With Bomb" statue from THE DEVIL'S BACKBONE!

Edited, Jan 1.

Ok, so it isn't. Still hoping for a Pan Statue, the Pale Man and maybe a Tree.

Yes, all the actors are spanish, the Pan is not spanish but knows how to talk the language

That'll piss my wife off good. She has been really wanting to see this, but HATES HATES reading movies.

I was just talking to a friend of mine about when my wife and I went to see Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and we watched people get up and leave because of the subtitles. I've never understood why it bothers people so much.

I think thats really bad, here we hate to hear the movies in spanish (dubbed?)and not in their original language, so i think there is a big problem that some doesnt want the original audio is better i must say, i dont like to see that the character mouth is still moving and the dialogue has finished; im with subtitles :D

I don't think it that she hates to hear the movie in it original language, maybe she just feels that all good movies should be made in America:lol...that way it is in its original language:D

Or at the very least filmed in English.:D

I find that if the actors are good, you don't have to read every word that is being said; their emotions and reaction should tell you a lot as well (if they are good actors). Plus, foreign movie are much more...don't know the world, but are MUCH different than the typical cookie-cutter american movie; which is sad. Still can't wait to see it....

You know...it's funny... I got to see firsthand how it feels to be in the opposite position. I went and saw Fellowship of the Ring for the first time in a Japanese movie theater in Yamato. It was crazy... Here we were, the only Americans in the theater and the subtitles were in Japanese. But I'll tell ya.... They were the most respectful audience I had ever seen... not a word spoken during the entire film.

And you pick your seat before you buy. Assigned seating!! And beer!! Wish it was like that here... :lol

Oh thats truth congerk the actors of the pan's labyrinth are good ones so i think there is no problem, but hehe in this movie it counts Spanish civil war so it will be a zero to the left if it wasnt in spanish....... dont know why del Toro counts the story of spain if he is mexican, and the movie will represent Mexico in the oscars but...oh well

My favorite theater here in LA The Arclight has assigned seating when you buy your ticket. never really appreciated it until I go to a theater without it. weird, Pans is only playing in like 3 theaters within an hour's drive. I expected this with a limited release foreign film; kinda sucks, too lazy to spend ten bucks in gas plus movie ticket to see it. :( :(

The Arclight in Hollywood has assigned seating (as congerkind said) AND they have 21 and over screenings where you can have your favorite drink while watching a film. :D

Pan's Labyrinth is in very limited release so I'm taking the 45 minute drive down to Hollywood to see it tomorrow with a couple of friends. Methinks the Arclight is the perfect theatre to see this film. :chew

I despise assigned seating and that's the main reason I don't go to the Arclight. Also there's a total stuck-up attitude to the place. The Grove is just as nice a theatre but is for real people.

I just saw Pan's and liked it a lot. It is very much a companion piece to Devil's Backbone, both about children in the Spanish Civil War who discover fantastic characters.

I have to say I expected something much lighter, especially based on the trailer, but it's less Narnia and more the Descent.

Oh yep, as del Toro said: Pan's Labyrinth is the little sister of Devil's Backbone, a curious data is that the tree where Ofelia goes is shaped as a vagina, yup :monkey1.

Thats why the movie was first rated (because of the violence mostly) C but Guillermo doesnt want that and was changed B15

Went to see this last night and I loved it! I took my brother, who knew nothing about it (except what I told him) and he thought it was awesome as well. Del Toro is a master. What else can I say? I have Devil's Backbone on DVD and I can't wait to own Pan's as well.
