I saw Pan's yesterday and loved it. Not totally what I was expecting in terms of tone... but I walked out of the theater in total awe of what Del Toro was able to achieve. It's such a sublime mix of the beautiful and fantastic and the horrible and sad all at the same time. It really makes you feel the humanity and inhumanity of it all. I thought the young actress who played Ofelia was just stupendous - as were the actors who played the other leads.

Go see this film everyone!

just got tickets for the arclight about 5 minutes ago. guillermo del toro is doing the intro for the movie, so that should be interesting...

saw the film last night, all I can say is WOW. Both visually stunning and emotional fantasy and violence (never that those two would EVER go together). I was shocked about how amazing little ofelia was, the little girl was great. Del Toro did the introduction, in which he said he considers this films a "girl's movie"' which was a little weird after seeing it.

My wife and I just got back from seeing Pan's Labyrinth...It was both brutal and beautiful. Del Toro has made an amazing movie. Like other's have said- Go see it! Do not miss it in the theaters.

man Im trying to catch this before it leaves the theaters.

planned to check it out this past weekend, but I worked full days all weekend and didnt feel like doing shat afterwards. :monkey2

Just saw it Saturday, what an amazing movie! I knew it would be cool, but it really lived up to the expecations! Like others, I was definitley taken back by some of the brutality... but it all merged together so well!

I can't recommend it highly enough. There wasn't as much fantasy as I was expecting, but that didn't matter. It really is a companion piece to The Devil's Backbone.

Now I really can't wait for Hellboy 2.

If Hellboy was as dark as Pans itwould be great. Hellboy was a little too kiddy for my likes, i liked it,just not as much as others.

I wouldn't mind if Hellboy 2 was more mature like Pan's Labyrinth or the Devil's Backbone. I think it would actually be more like Mignola's comics. I thought the first movie was great, but it was definitely a "Hollywood" type production.

I saw Pan's Labyrinth a couple of days ago. Wow! Really kicked my @$$!
I was not expecting Saving Private Ryan level of realistic violence, and it
really hit me. (if you've seen it you should know of what I refer to)
The ending was a smidge ambiguous, but overall I liked it a lot, and I'd
really like to see it again in the theater before it leaves. Some amazing
imagination on display, and an absolutely despicably evil villain. Scary.

Scary in an Adolph Hitler, Nazi sort of way.

The movie finally came to our town this weekend and I got to see it tonight. I absolutley loved it. I was annoyed because the theater did not have the size of the movie matched up with the screen and parts of the subtitles were on the bottom curtain. I did not like several of the choices that the characters made throughout the movie but overall it was a great film.

Yeah one choice in particular by the cook made absolutely no sense.

Now I am kicking myself.

I gave up on waiting and drove an hour to see it last week, and then it ends up coming to town after all. We could have seen it together.

:banghead

I was definitely expecting more than 10 or 15 minutes of fantasy sequences based on some of the word of mouth and official advertising out there. I enjoyed it, but it was not what I was expecting. The "fantasy" scenes were few and far between, but it was interesting how they commented upon the action in the "real" story. Example: Ofelia is confonted with a dangerous monster and refuses to blindly follow orders even though it puts her life at risk. Later, the Doctor finds himself in a parallel situation with a monster of a different kind. The brave choices she made in her fantasies ultimately led up to her courage as the plotlines converged at the end. Was I satisfied by the ending? Well, yes and no, I guess. But the movie was definitely worth seeing.

Now if we can just get "Iwo Jima" to come to town...

We can catch Iwo Jima together then...

I was worried that the real life scenes were going to be boring but the story was just as interesting to me as the fantasy. I will make sure to pick this up on dvd and watch it again.

Saw this on Saturday. Was afraid that the buzz was going to get my expectations too high. Not only did it meet the buzz, it exceeded. This was One. Beautiful. Film.
