Is your lighting from IKEA as well? If so, which one? Instead of putting lighting under each shelf, have you tried putting a vertical strip of lights on the hinge-side of the doors?

I am also considering getting the billy but will likely use the Morliden doors:

The Morliden doors comes with a white/black cardboard sheet that you can remove to show the clear glass. The cardboard adds no support for the door and is meant to allow you to add decorations between the glass and the cardboard.

After having thought about it for a while, I will keep the Billy doors I have right now.
But in the future I will replace them with morliden doors, no doubt.

45 usd plus 55 plus 15...

Around 115 usd... not too bad...
