defragging decreases the life of a hard drive?? I did it for years.... or do you just mean SSD?

Just for SSD, the difference is that a regular hard drive doesn't really deteriorate from rewriting files, and since it physically has to locate files it helps to improve speed by defragging so that it can better organize the data so it doesn't take as long for it to locate the files. SSD doesn't have that issue since it can go directly to the file location, but it does wear out over time from writing files.

Video gaming FTW !

Nice.

I have the same mouse pad, the one with the badge icon though.

what's the monitor?

I have an Acer 120hz monitor and honestly I could never go back to 60hz again.

Running a game smoothly @ 120fps in 1080p is just insane

Tiger Direct had a bunch of sales this week and I just bought the parts for a budget PC. Just thought that I'd share what I purchased:

Processor: Intel Core i5-3570K (unlocked)
Motherboard: MSI Z77A-G45 Intel Z77 Socket Motherboard
Hard Drive: Toshiba 2TB 7200rpm 3.5" SATA HDD
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 650 1GB GDDR5 PCIe
Memory: Kingston 4 GB x 2, 1600 MHz DDR 3 RAM
Case: Cooler Master Elite 431+ Mid Tower
Extra fan: Kingwin 120mm Long Life Bearing Case Fan (this was free after a rebate :lol)

With several instant rebates (and some mail in rebates), the overall cost is just over $600. I'm going to save some more money and swap my old DVD-RW drive and Ultra 600W PSU from my old desktop.

The next thing, is finding a cheap price on Windows 7...

A really good choice! Also for windows 7 just go with the oem version https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116986 Probably won't find it much cheaper than that.

I'm eagerly awaiting the Black Widow 2013 to come out in blue. My Megalodon is blue, my wireless Mamba is programmed blue, my case has blue LEDs, even my RAM is blue! Razer Green just doesn't do it for me (or so I tell myself since everything I have is blue)

Thanks! I just really wanted to create the foudation for a system that I could gradually build on. Choosing a core i5 with a Msi z77 motherboard with overclocking potential seemed like a good thing to start with. The graphics card sucks but I'll definitely upgrade it later. Can't wait for next week when everything arrives and I can put the PC together together.

I'm gonna try my old Windows XP installation disks first. I am such a cheap bastard...

Ha, ha. I had the same thought the other day when looking at this keyboard. I think I'm going with the Corsair Vengeance K90 but still more reading to do about all of them.

Guys, a few questions: will two system fans be adequate cooling for an i5 processor and a GTX 650 1GB GDDR5 graphic card? I'm planning to have one fan function as an intake and the other as an exhaust. Or, should I also look into liquid cooling? I don't plan on overclocking the i5 anytime soon - although I'll definitely try it later on.
