I wasn't a fan of Cena at all until he started doing comedic stuff. Now I'm a fan. Big fan even.
To Cena's credit, when I watch the show, I see the character Peacemaker and not the performer John Cena (I mean, who can really see John Cena anyway. Lol!) Unlike with the Rock, my mind always see him as the Rock no matter what role he has played. Except Moana maybe.
I thought by having characters get shot or other injuries created enough stakes for me. And they made it clear that Harcourt wears a vest and that John stopped her bleeding and had put his leg in a splint.I actually thought the finale was one of the weakest episodes of the series.
SPOILERS.....don't read on if you haven't watched!
I thought Gunn was gonna have the balls to show the real world consequences of running around playing "hero" while walking directly into a hail of bullets. (You know, like he did in the movie "Super.")
Instead we get a happy ending where everybody's OK, including the 90 pound woman that was clearly shot to death onscreen, as well as the fat guy who simply walks off a compound fracture in his leg.
Look, I know it's a stupid super-hero fantasy show, but if there are no "stakes" whatsoever, and regular ordinary people without super powers just shrug off life-ending injuries, then what's the point of watching?
Maybe if James Gunn wasn't dating the chick that plays the tough as nails "badass" *** kicking woman, he would have had the balls to actually let her character die and give the episode some pathos. But nooooo.
And of course the obese woman that would have trouble with two flights of stairs suddenly runs into the battle and kills everyone in her path. Rolled my eyes pretty hard at that.
It was "cute" that they were able to get Momoa and the annoying Flash guy for a cameo at the end, but I felt like Peacemaker at that point....too late!
Overall it was an uneven series. There was a lot to like here, some really goofy fun, outrageous violence, some decent banter....but there was also some really obnoxious "beat you over the head" moments promoting "THE MESSAGE" that I could really do without. This episode in particular was full of them.
Opening title dance sequence will always be straight fire though.
My dude, I was infantry, I’m always picky about in movies people get shot or stabbed and die from 1 bullet.I actually thought the finale was one of the weakest episodes of the series.

Yes, i loved the detective’s reaction to Activate Torpedo. Every joke involving those helmets landed. Even Eagly just flying off with it.My dude, I was infantry, I’m always picky about in movies people get shot or stabbed and die from 1 bullet.
we could go into detail about caliber and weapon type but At the end of the day they didn’t get hurt lethally so of course they could live another day, bullet vests are just deterrents the plates can get shattered and slow the bullet down but at the end of the day Harcourt was aiming for mortal wounds and got the desired effect, the butterflies were just shooting left and right, that’s the real world consequence, recovery of course, takes weeks or months.
the red flag is vigilante dude sleeps for 10 minutes and all is good lolololol
this was the best the series finale of all time I never knew what to expect and omg
I died laughing when I saw the “Activate Torpedo” scene hahaha

Speaking of, I didn’t realize Gunn created Eagly from scratch and that its completely CG. Amazing.
And just seeing the helmet fly off from “gravity” lmaoYes, i loved the detective’s reaction to Activate Torpedo. Every joke involving those helmets landed. Even Eagly just flying off with it.

That buck was as good as the ending to that show.On the opposite end of the CGI animal spectrum we have that white buck from the season opener of Dexter new blood. That was one of the least convincing examples I've seen in some time. I don't know how that even made it past the editors. Surely someone must have pointed out how terrible and fake it looked.

Agree with pretty much everything you said here.
Further, while some of the recent past efforts for DC have ranged from good to miles from perfect, I'm a little bummed we're just coming straight back to MCU joke fest.
Don't get me wrong it's funny to see JL in that kind of cameo and suicide squad was never all that serious a movie anyways, but I dunno considering how homogenized a lot of the MCU film content was getting for a lot of people I'm surpised so many are excited that DC is essentially just looking to go down the same path.
All that said, most of the show was more entertaining than not.
