I saw this in Wallmart the other day, they only had one left but I decided to not buy it. Huge mistake, I saw the TV advert for this the other day and it's definitely not the one shown on FX (thanks Natrix). They really went all out to update the movie, it's close to the level of a LOTR extended edition.

I would not go as far as to compare it to the LOTR extended editions. SM 2.1 has only 8 min of extra film and it does not come close to fleshing more of the story as well as the LOTR EE did.

I got this last wek at walmart (they had it out super early) and I watched it over the weekend.

There is an extended scene with Peter and Harvey about the death of Harveys father. There is a scene were MJ talks with a friend about her marriage (it's one of the chicks from Death Proof) And there are extended fighting scenes. Those extra fight scenes probably add up to about 40 - 50 seconds of the 8 min.

While I thought most of the scenes were good and helped add to the film, they used an alternate extended elevator scene which was stupid IMO an did not work. I was not nuts about it the first time and now it's just longer and more silly.

It had updated special effects and a few added scenes, is what I meant, that they went back and redid elements in the film and added some new scenes. Maybe it's more like Star Wars SE, but it didn't cross my mind at the time.

Yeah Star Wars is a good comparison. I just did not want anyone to be mislead.

Who is Harvey?

I picked this up last weekend and have already watched it 3 times. The extras are a nice addition and the JJJ scene had me laughing. I agree with the elevator scene being a little annoying.
