Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

exactly! would hate for those to go to waste!

I wonder if they're waiting for the teeth showing smile to be used on an eventual COTBP Jack??

to recreate this pic since it seems to be a very popular Sparrow pic

^^^ Anyone else still looking forward to this

It's fallen of Hot Toys' radar (like many others)

Stupid thing is it that it was announced, then it was Shown at SDCC along with the debuts of the 89 Bat figure, Bespin Luke and the Black Suit Spider-Man and is THE ONLY ONE not to be up for order.... i don't get it :dunno

DX Jack has done so well, it's garnered praise as FOTY and pleased pretty much every customer (how often does that happen) so i just don't get HT.

I do! :wave

Yeah, too bad HT somewhat ignore or prioritized less in showing the proto pics of this figure. :( But we never know what's happening behind the scene hence the long wait. Still, I pumped up to order this one as I missed the 1st version of it. :yess:

I'm still waiting for this AND Angelica. Hwever, I am seriously beginning to wonder if either is actually going to happen.:dunno

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

^the reason that Hot Toys hasn't announced anything about this version of Jack Sparrow is because their DX figure just dropped and by announcing that figure it might steal some thunder from the DX and have peeps waiting for the Cannibal version instead.I'm pretty sure we'll see something of an announcement around summertime probably around SDCC time.I think so anyway!^_^

^ Wrong, they just released Batman 89 and immediately announced Batman Returns.

I honestly don't like this new era of collecting... it saddens me that collectors only keep looking at "what's next", and their attention to "what's now" is depleting quickly.

It does seem to be more of an obsession/addiction than collection. I am new to 1/6 collecting and in my first 2 years I have picked up over 60 figures. That seems like a lot when I say it out loud but I've seen collections up here that we're way larger.

It's all about perspective. I like picking up figs from the past, love the figures that have come out in the present, and look forward to what's coming next in the future.

Agreed, I'm enjoying DX Jack but it does sadden me that these days, the community blows through it's enthusiasm from the prototype to the release photos and pretty much moves on to the next big thing before they even get their figure in hand and on e they do it's a quick note about their joy and that's it. I miss the sharing of photos and exchanging of opinions and the energy that cones from several people being excited about something and sharing it at the same time. I get excited about my photos and comments I want to make and I feel like the people I share them with look at me like some fool who's trying to catch up to them. If you can't make your contributions in the first 2-3 weeks after release they'll fall on deaf ears.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I wouldn't worry about it mate, your right though, a lot of people on the boards just want to buy the "hot" thing, show it off for 5 minutes, post a ____ load of photos that look identical to everyone else's, wait for some praise then move onto the next fix. It seems to have become more about making yourself feel better by public forum than actually enjoying the hobby. These are the same people who jump down your throat if you post anything negative about one of their "precious" (Gollum voice) new acquisitions.

Ah well, live and let live I guess. We just need to enjoy what we do. It's an expensive hobby and it's supposed to be fun, an escape from the ups and downs of the real world. I have enjoyed painting and modding the last few releases I have gotten more than the actual sets themselves. Indy for example was a very poor release, but it kept me entertained for months. Painting and modding.

:)

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Yes, sadly too many people truly whine aroun here about stuff to a point where all critical comments are seen as whining and the people saying them labelled as ungrateful. I love my DX Jack and I'm very thankful HT made it an with such quality, but it qon't stop me from commenting on issues I find either, and like rory, I don't criticize an do nothing, I fix them :)

this is exaclty how i feel. I still have immense love for my SS LOTR figures. They were my intro to the 1/6 world. I'll never forget my "oldies but goodies." but then i still love the new releases these days though not their prices so much :lol and always look forward to the future, but I don't let it bring me down about what I own from the past.

and this is why I don't post pics so much anymore. It feels like a competition now of who's pics are better and not really any fun. I hate it when ppl have to feel apologetic about the pictures they show or bringing up an "old thread" b/c they just want to share some pics of a figure they still love.

even with my short time a part of this board, things seemed to have changed so much since then it feels like. It just doesn't seem like it's for the fun anymore. That's why I'll always love transformers. I love them and they'll always be fun to me new and old

... and like rory, I don't criticize an do nothing, I fix them :)

and just like ya'll two, I do the same thing, it's part of the fun. I find doing mods, whether others here agree with them or not, personalizes your figures. The really become your figures b/c not that you modded it, no ones is like yours anymore. Sure a few ppl may try the same mod but it won't look exactly like yours. I can guarantee that no ones SW or LOTR figures look like mine and I'm proud of that

I typically like leaving my HT figures as Stock for some reason but their are some figures that I just can't deal with not having some mods done to it like HT Two-Face for example. ANd doing that made me love the figure as opposed to just liking it b/c I got a good deal on him.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Seems to me HT is dropping this line for awhile- all the excitement of Angelica and Cannibal King teased at us months ago has netted NOTHING. I thought at the time Angelica would be out by end of 2011...
Maybe they are going to throw resources to Bats and Avengers for now....wondering what is up?

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Hot Toys possibly took fright at all the naysayers saying they hate the Angelica character. It seems to me that there are quite a few board members now, who have absolutely nothing positive to contribute at all.
They hate everything Hot Toys bring out and plan to develop. Criticism is fine as long as it's constructive. I for one, want the Angelica figure, irrespective of Penelope Cruz's performance in the movie. I really hope, therefore, that HT haven't taken fright and cancelled the figure just because a few negativists shouted their mouths off on this forum!:lecture

Be happy..
HT doesn't gve a frack about how board members like or dislike a character- I'm sure sure she is coming at some point- just delayed till they decide to return to this license?:impatient:

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I completely forgot about the announcement of the Angelica figure, but I am still wanting it for my collection. This fig should of been up for preorder already. What's up HT! :impatient: :impatient: :impatient:
