That does seem odd. Way back in the day, Pixar could be admired for its willingness not to rest on its laurels, but I guess everyone capitulates to the big machine at some point. Disney can just keep cranking out more Toy Story spinoffs indefinitely. Not sure David Bowie would be thrilled, but he also caved to commercial pressures at various points in his career, so who knows?

Tough crowd.

Yeah, I agree with this. So many Toy Story movies using Tim Allen for Buzz Lightyear, why the change now?
Because he's a Trump supporter, and Liberals don't like it, so they got Captain Liberal, Chris Evans.

That's my opinion. They said it was because the film is based in the guy that inspired the Buzz Lightyear toy.

However, this film looks way too sci-fi to belong in the "real world" of Toy Story, imo. I mean the technology and there's aliens in it and going to other planets?

I thought this film was going to be a film about an astronaut, but a realistic one. The trailer looks cool tho and I like the suit.

Visually, this may be my favorite Pixar film in a long time. Glad to see them tackling sci-fi again, the environments and lighting look great.

I was thinking the same thing. This story, where he flies toward the sun in a futuristic spacecraft, etc. is supposed to take place prior to the first Toy Story movie?

Perhaps it’s a movie that occurs within the toy story ‘world’ and the toy line was based off the movie or something. I can’t see it actually taking place within the context of that world created by the toy story series.

That'd be lame. A movie about a movie? Then it wouldn't make sense for Chris Evans to play Buzz, because usually toys use the voice of the actor in the movies. So if Buzz is just a fictional character in a film played by an actor, then the toy based on that film would have that actor's voice.

That's the only way I see this making sense
