Well, I got my pre-order in at Amazon! Not the launch edition, but I'm still happy for the standard edition. I just hope that it ships in January as scheduled :lol.

I've told myself that I can't pre-order the console until I can land myself a new job. An income would be nice if I were to move into the next generation.

Sadly I probably won't have the cash to get it at launch. But it will probably be safer to do it that way and maybe get a later model.

Every point Sony makes in this video is the exact opposite of each restriction Xbox One has (new restrictions on lending games to others, mandatory internet check-in, don't actually own the physical disk): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ht-0Hne4EU

PS4 is following the same model as PS3, where you can play offline whenever you want, as long as you want, give the game to any other person and let that person play offline without restrictions, all just like PS3.

PS4 will apparently allow publishers to have the same online pass as in this generation, meaning you can play used and borrowed games offline, but to go online will require an online pass if the publisher requires it. So no new restrictions there, as opposed to MS, where every game now has a restriction (online check-in) and lending games will now be pretty much impossible. MS has been telling people that if you can't connect to the internet for the check-in, you should just stick with a 360. They literally said this.

It's true, here's the vid of MS telling ppl to stick with the 360

It boils down to this:

Xbox is for real gamers. It is for the future.

PS4 is for casual players.

Sony is for old people who refuse to text, send email, and can't understand what those crazy kids are doing.

Grandma, you're getting a Playstation!

I'm not getting either the new Xbox or Playstation, but this has to be the stupidest comment in the thread.

Quiet down and let the adults talk.

I think Sony took the right path. Even if the publishers can still do their own DRM thing, it keeps Sony from looking like the bad guy while MS is facilitates DRM by adding functionality to support it. It best to appeal to consumer perception.

I remember how many people felt the 360 was cheaper than the PS3. While MS had cheaper models, if you bought a 360 elite with the same size HDD as a ps3, a HD-DVD drive and a wi-fi adapter to "match" the capability of the PS3, it actualy cost more, not even mentioning the cost of live gold. But Mircosoft won consumer perception the the 360 was a more "affordable" console.

So I think it is smart for Sony to deflect the consumer hate of DRM to the publishers like EA who continue to earn their bad reputation.

I'm holding off until i see sony offers a game bundle with the PS4. Maybe a Killzone edition?
