On the left side of the screen, you will see a bunch of videos titled Deconstructing #1, 2, 3, etc.
Watch them in order. It is very interesting how they break apart the Maul PF and give us an inside look at the PF and how it is made.

I would pay extra for these pieces if SS put out some kind of bulletin or video showing the steps they take to ensure quality or of the manufacturing process. I own $3000+ large scale model cars...and for that money the companies that make them actually give you a break down of how their made as well as describing the materials used to show you why anyone would pay $3000 for a model car. Why would a $2000 1/2 Iron man or Bust be any different?

Below is an example of what im talking about. This is the break down of a 1/12 scale Mercedes-Benz SLR by a company called CMC that makes very high end model cars with extream attention to detail. I own one of these cars and believe me everything stated on their website about the quality of their product is exactly what you get!
I believe SS should start employing somthing similar to at least give their customers piece of mind.

What also has me concerned is that I can't display everything at once, so some stuff is just sitting in the SS boxes in my spare bedroom, including sabretooth LSB. I almost feel like I need to reopen everything and reinspect it before it gets too late.

This is a very purplexing....how can a company that prides themselves on high end collectibles have paint application issues with so many different lines?...its not like their new to the game and are just learing how to paint.
I have wood chairs in my back yard that I spray painted white with a can of paint I bought at a Canadian tire for $7.....5 years later those chairs are still white with absolutely no cracking or pealing of any kind. Despite being left outdoors through winter and summer. Surely that would be the greatest test of paint application....being weatherd down for 5 year and they still dont have the paint issues a $700 IM bust has or a $300 Darkness LSB has. How do you explain this SS.....their really is no excuse for it.
I can understand if this is an isolated incident, where 1 or 2 out of 1000 may have this issue. But when you have claims in the double digits that are expanding into different lines.. what trust is this going to inspire in your customers or products? I've already passed on a few pieces released due to possible paint issues (1/2 Iron man) and seeing some of the pictures members of this forum have posted have made me nervous of collecting other lines you carry.
Basically SS, you need to get their Sh** together and fast. Your QC needs a serious overhaul.....theirs nothing "collectible" about a collectible that falls apart right after your open it.

Chris

Well said!!!! :lecture :lecture :lecture

After reading this thread, I checked my Sabertooth LSB (since others have said it has paint issues) that has been in box in one of my spare bedrooms and sure enough the paint is peeling and cracking off of it as well.

E-mail sent to Sideshow asking for a complete refund.

I would urge everyone to check their boxed busts and statues for paint defects and e-mail Sideshow.

Tomorrow I am going through my LSB's and if any others are peeling I am going to try and seen them back for a complete refund....this is complete BS!

Same thing happen to my Darknes lsb and after checking each of my SS products the same thing happen to the base of PredAlien maquette base.

yeah and before you brought it back we had another one(i was checking it before you came) and it had the same problem

so far so good, but I am seriously concerned about the issue now, and it's a selfish reason admittedly because these are collectibles I own. When it was someone elses problem, I didn't care so much, but seeing as how this seems to be a wide spread problem across many different lines, I'm on high alert now.

Please ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM NOW sideshow. Offer your loyal fan base some assurances. I'm about to cancel my darkness LSB tomorrow because of this issue.

Wow...this is just unbelievable!
I dont think its an issue with the paint being used...but the primer being used. Some primers will dry to a consistency like that of hard plastic which only special types of paint will adhere to. If its not the paint designed to be used with that primer it will do exactly what so many people are seeing with their SS pieces. I work in the car busness...and have seen this many times. IMO, SS is trying to cut costs on the materials used on their products which wont result well in the end.

I'm about to not ever get into the bust line and that was my next acquisitions after all my PF's were acquire.

I think I may just stay with the older busts that don't seem to have theses issues...

This is exactly what I was thinking, what changed during the process of the past bust within these days busts... What changed the painting process?

yeah i know that the iron man 1/1 was a case of this, mid way through production the batch of primer was contaminated at the factory, so the middle 1/3 of them were damaged, but you couldnt tell right away as they went out
