They also confirmed that they will be using none of that time to make sure it turns out well. "QC is for chumps," they said. :monkey2

Go into the SoiderWoman thread, and you MIGHT start to actually believe that:lecture. At this point if they delayed her to get her RIGHT you guys should be rediculously happy.

Thanks for mentioning the SW thread Spidey. I rarely go into threads of things I dont buy. What a complete f'n nightmare. Seeing the black lines on her costume and the lines on her webs, just gives me bad thoughts about Ivy's vines and leaves.

Guess I should prepare myself for a **** item, that way if she comes out nice, I will be thrilled. And not to upset if she comes out like ****.

you guys still dont seem to understand it's all about which chinese factory sideshow send their stuff to. Sideshow the brand itself is nothing but a marketing gimmick, the factories are the ones making your statue. And they are completely independent companies operating with its own set of quality control or lack thereof.

Unlike companies who outsource their own manufacturing to china for example apple, coach etc.. - who brings in their own process and QA standard resulting in consistent output quality, all sideshow does is send those APs to the factories then it's completely hands off, just wait for the factory to send the shipment to their warehouse in CA. There is no QC, not even some basic guidelines except when the shipment arrive they will open up a few to check(which is too late and useless), why else do you think so many statues have lazy eyes and other glaring defects - a problem that can be resolved with a few phone calls.

That said, given how nice the joker pf turned out, and the fact sideshow usually divide the factories based on license, i am pretty confident poison ivy / batman pf will all be manufactured by the same factory that did joker pf, which means it will be good. ( interesting fact: it's also the same factory that made the latest terminator pf, as there is an arnie head in one of the joker's base).

It's the marvel pieces that seem to always get the short end of the stick. My theory is there are 2 factories for marvel since it's such a large license, and one of them is complete disaster (rogue, ultron, spiderwoman etc..)

So gaga, with such poor craftsmanship from one of these factories time and time again, why would SS still contract them? Just because quality factories are in short supply and SS's output has gone up exponentially?

Most of those makeshift factories can make those statues, you just have to guide them and set quality expectations if it's a new factory(where ss fails), it's not rocket science to use an airbrush or tailor some barbie cloth, china has 1.3 billion people. We are not making lladro figures here... There are rows of those factories in some parts of china like guanzhou near hk. But why do you think sideshow actually cares, they just look at a few spreadsheets at the end of the day as long as the final numbers are good that's all it matters, for rogue they lost a little bit money repainting the head, ultron no action taken, spiderwoman no action taken. Most collectors keep their statues no matter how bad it looks, despite the vocal members here. Out of their 1000s es majority keeps it. Sideshow asks most international customers to destroy their entire statue instead of returning, basically they value <$70 shipping cost more than the statue itself, that should tell you how cheap those things actually cost them to make.

As long as the $ numbers are still good, sideshow doesnt care. They will only care when massive amount of people start returning the statues, which never happens. Rogue soldout, ultron soldout, etc..

Only thing you can do as a collector is have a zero tolerance policy and return the statue that is not up to par with the photos they have shown and insist they pay for return shipping because of the dismal quality of the product, sadly most buyers just bend over.

well, even a zero tolerance policy sucks for us international customers... we lose about 100$ per statue on custom fees whether it's still in our collection or destroyed. They say that SSC has to refund us that while SSC says the customs here have to refund it.
End of the day, if this keeps up, we'd lose about 800-900$ alone on custom fees and I'm not willing to do that.

well you guys are in a league of your own, i think all international buyers are just plain crazy playing russian roulette with their $$ in custom taxes hoping for a quality statue made by a bunch makeshift chinese factory without any qc.

yeah, it wasn't like this in the beginning... usually when things went wrong it was because of Fedex or something like it
I can live with shipping damages since it usually means the replacement will be good but not with the **** they're pulling of now

Well yes but it still means we have no clue how a piece is going to come. Who's to say the factory that did Joker did Ivy?
Maybe they use a factory for female features and one for monsters... who knows??

U need to write them and let them know. Iv been thinking pf doing that. Nothing will happen but at least ur letting them know

Who's willing to wager that Ivy comes with a wig, just like Black Widow? Would you guys have a problem with that? :rotfl

I do actually. You must like playing with Mr. Potato heads if you like your statues to come with removable parts.
