We can't know our position on the wait list, but depending on when you got on it, you might stand a good chance. I got on the Exclusive Anakin waitlist a few hours after it sold out, and got one recently.

As for the regular, you might get it cheaper (both in price and shipping costs) by ordering from one of the board dealers. Go to the Commerce section for a full list, and click away. Then, if you get the exclusive off the wait list, you can easily cancel the regular, should you wish so.

It may never be as successful as SW, but SW has had 30 years to build up a following and I do agree with the above posts that there are different types of collectors that are fans of the 2 different properties.

One comment I would like to add is that LOTR was written in circa 1955 while Star Wars came out in 1976. So LOTR has 50+ years in existence, vs 30 years for Star Wars. But, in terms of commercialization (i.e. Movies), LOTR was animated in 1978 by Bakashi 2 years after Star Wars, and we did not get the blow your mind away experience from PJ until 2001 (4 years ago). So it seems the commercializing of LOTR has made the collecting market explode.

As to Aragorn 12" it looks very good, as good as or better than any of the Star Wars 12". I hope they make many of the lotr figures.

Exclusive Aragorn went up for order at 10AM PST and sold out 3:52PM PST. So 1750 pieces sold out in less than 6 hours (not a day). That makes me nervous. I think this line is dead. 1/4 Luke is selling for peanuts on eBay that must mean that line is in trouble since nobody wants it.

Yeah, I don't think any SW or LOTR line is going to fail when they are done this well. Now, if they fell off to the leve of the TB stuff and really a lot of Hasbro's stuff then they might.
