Possible Planet Hulk/World War Hulk movies for Phase 3 Marvel

Last week we caught wind of an interesting rumor regarding the future of Hulk in Marvel Studios' film projects. According to Latino Review, The Avengers 2 will conclude with Hulk being banished into space, thereby setting the stage for a Planet Hulk movie and an Avengers 3 that will adapt the events of the World War Hulk storyline.

Fingers crossed this comes to fruition.

I hope it doesn't. At where the movie franchise stands now, it makes no sense to go that way. Banner can control himself and change into the Hulk at will, Tony Stark seems to identify and like Banner as a friend (to the point to even encourage him to turn into the HULK). Now, all of the sudden HULK is a treat to the world and the Avengers (Tony) will ship him into space? Nah, screw that, I would rather see Ultron more than anything else.

Yeah, right now it makes no sense, but the rumor referred to this being a phase 3 marvel movie plot. We just got out of phase 1, so there's a few movies to redefine aspects and relationships

Banner could always start to get more violent and aggressive as Hulk starts to take over his mind now he has control of it, you know, like 2 minds becoming one.

I understand that, but even then it would still be hard for me to swallow such a transition from the Hulk the we have now to a Hulk that needs banishing to another planet (that plot is a measly 3 movies away).

Wouldn't it make much more sense to bring Ultron? They are making a Ant-man movie right? Well, after the invasion of Earth by Loki in Avengers 1 Henry Pym decided to create robots to help in the protection of Earth, they go crazy by the end of Avengers 2 and Ultron moves on to be the big enemy in Avengers 3. Boom, done!

Couldn't agree more with getting Surfer back being a top priority especially if they are going into space with Thanos and GoG.

I still think an Avengers movie and a Hulk movie could easily weave dynamic changing yarns. I didn't come out of Avengers thinking 'huh, Banner has Hulk under control for good now'. He's going to be fighting the anger forever!

I understand this plot doesn't necessarally fit with the current Avengers timeline, but it could perhaps become a stand alone film. After all, rumor has it he'll be transported elsewhere at the end of TA2. The events at the end of Planet Hulk could cause him to snap and lose control again. Maybe an event fabricated by Thanos to turn him against humanity once more. Hence WW hulk is born.

Just a thought.

Come to think of it, that makes perfect sense. A Planet Hulk movie/story line would mean no Banner AT ALL. I'm glad this didn't happen. Like I said before, Hulk is too much of an ally to be used as a main villain.

The more I think about it, the more I think we will see Ultron in the movie franchise. It just makes sense to go that way now that we have a Ant-Man movie in the works.

I couldn't get either source to spill on Marvel's specific plans for a standalone Hulk movie post-AVENGERS 2, but I'm told that Ruffalo-as-Banner will be an integral part of that film. After two false starts with Banner, Marvel is thrilled with Ruffalo. The last thing they want to do is reduce his role. Sure, they could have Ruffalo play Hulk in mocap, but the Banner element would be gone - and this evidently is important to Marvel.

At least Ruffalo will remain as Banner for a while. He deserves a crack at a film of his own.
