Grandma should've whipped both his ass and his mother's!

Still - the parents of these kids need a swift kick in the rear for even allowing this. And the guy who thought it up is a dumbass for putting kids in something like this.

^^^^

1) I figured out the "I couldn't care less" thing about 20 years ago. It's a pet peeve of mine when people get it wrong. :monkey4

2) I get the hold down the fort bit, but the rest is pretentious nonsense IMO. Language evolves. And with it the pronunciation of words. This is especially true when it's spoken on a different continent.

3) Sure, maybe it's strange to the British that Americans don't pronounce the "h" in "herb". But it's also weird to Americans that British people pronounce the first three letters of "schedule" different than the first few letters of "school".

4) John Cleese did a nearly identical video about "I could care less":

<object width="640" height="505"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/uCUsPnKD1gk?fs=1&hl=en_US&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/uCUsPnKD1gk?fs=1&hl=en_US&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="505"></embed></object>

Couldn't care less, could care less.

Who cares?

And why is this against Americans? People in the U.K. don't make this common mistake? I find that hard to believe.

I didn't find the video funny, in fact I wanted to blast him in his face. Maybe then it would fix his HORRIBLE teeth.

You say "could care less" don't you. :monkey4

I only ever heard of people saying "could care less" over the net like on here and on youtube,i never heard someone say it in-person,only in text, it sounds ____ed up to me.

People say it all the time in the States, and it pisses me off. Seriously, is it that hard to work out?

No, it's not something I think about or dwell on either.

You know how often I hear errors? All the time. Some people are nervous when they talk, some people talk faster than they think, there are a bunch of different reasons.

I've been there plenty of times myself. You say something and then it hits you a few minutes later, "damn, that sounded stupid, I made a mistake". "Should have said this, could have said that." Nobody is perfect and there isn't an "edit" option in real life.

Life is too short to be bothered by flawed human tendencies, especially when you know damn well what someone meant. If minor things like that "piss" people off, they need to get out with people more.

I agree with most of that. In fact, I stick my foot in my mouth all the time. It's the lifelong mindless parroting of a phrase that means the opposite of what it says that peeves me. :wave
