I think this one is identical to that japanese kit they made, you could find it on google. Strangely enough the pic of the full kit cannot be viewed anymore ever since they put this up on preview...coincidence? It's got to be the same one, I regret I did'nt save the pic - going to have to wait another week so we can see this baby in full glory. *sigh*

nope...you are thinking of the old "Halcyon" styrene (Brit company) kit. I am pretty sure Tsukuda distributed the kit under their name at one point.
Anyway....that kit was much smaller.

Please do tell. :D

...eh, that prob wouldn't be the "smart" thing to do.
Lets just say...I am not into saying things just to hear myself talk. I usually lurk on the forum, but there are times where I feel I can shed some light on whatever it may be. Weather it is, some Sideshow factoid, or info I have picked up over the many years I have been in the collectible "game".

Isn't that what this forum is all about?

...that's not the SS piece.

T-mex

Yes, we know it's not the SS piece. But it IS the piece that SS has based their PL on. I know for a FACT that they purchased the rights to this kit from Forbidden Zone. The face sculpt may be different, and SS has added a few more details to the sculpt...but it is the same piece.

You are right though...it's all in who you know.

Well the Forbidden Zone kit connection isn't really a secret. It was an unlicensed kit, now it is a licensed collectible.
But the pic that was shown was of just "Ripley's" face, not the loader. That's what I was referring too.

Moving parts = added engineering = production issues = difficulty to mass produce = added cost to the buying public.

well, you're right abt that. but i really wouldn't mind paying up to say, 20% more to get some "options" on the pose. however, as others have pointed out here, it's probably wishful thinking...

also, this seems like it's gonna be ridiculously fragile just like the alien queen.

...well it would be cool. Who knows...maybe SS added a bit of articulation. But I have a feeling the delicate nature of the design warrants solid joints.

$299.99 :(

So much money - when factoring in the Queen it becomes a potentially $800 dio, depending on shipping costs

Sadly, it's too pricey for me. It's also too bad they couldn't get the rights to Weaver's likeness. They still came pretty close. And they didn't stick a mustache on her.
