Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

I keep coming back to this piece, questioning should I go for it or not. I've always wanted a Predator piece in my collection. It's just that price though, it's ****ing expensive :lol

Honestly this piece is only going two ways

1) I can't believe I how lucky I am I dodged that bullet.

2) I need this.

So many people are waiting in the wings I think, especially with the EX not a must (in my opinion). If this comes out good I think it will sell out quick. It's all in that paint job, if people have doubts now with the tease I can't see how the production piece can win us back but I'm still hoping this one comes out amazing. For the price the paint on this should be flawless and I do mean not one thing wrong.

There is no excuse for Sideshow on this one, they have raised the bar so lets see the goods.

It is going to take more than nice paint to push me over the edge.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

I agree the paint on this needs to be top notch, especially at that price.

I've never needed to do a return, but in the event I decide to return a piece I buy from them, do they give a full refund including the cost to ship it back to them?

Honestly I have my days.

Some days I'll look and see just an average representation then others I'm reminded of how ridiculously priced the Wolf Legendary and the Original P1 Maq are. This statue isn't on par with those ones, neither in pose or design but it's still a 1/4 predator. If sideshow didn't have such a monopoly we might have some options but unless you get a custom you're not going to get a 1/4 predator statue any time soon.

I'm not sure if I should be buying just because of that though, that's my real dilemma. I can pick up the Batman PF, the Superman PF and pay off the remaining balance of a custom PF that I'm getting, all for the price of this one statue.

It's pretty scary when you think of it like that. Actually it's not pretty scary, it's terrifying.

There is a third way imo... I want this but not as it is. I don't hate it but then I can't say I really like it much either. I like the casual pose, I like the size but I hate the stupid flaws they left it with and the price that they seemed to just make up on the fly to see how far they can push their customers. I think they looked at the prices people ask for the P1 these days and thought we'll have a bit of that. Well that comparison simply can't be made, the only thing this has in common with the P1 maquette is that it is a 1:4 predator, it has neither the pedigree or the accuracy and it should be half the price at most. That said, speaking of that middle ground, I'd love this piece if they just made those few small changes people were crying out for... mainly the crazy dreads and I would buy it if they did it right. I won't be too upset if they don't bother changing the faults though, somebody will do it right eventually, I'd rather wait than have a P2 I'm not happy with for the price of a used car.

Tell me about it, they put us in that position and it forced a lot of guys to like it due to the fact they have no other alternative. I am getting a Wolf LSF from another member here in a trade and would snatch up a P1 if I got a decent deal on one, but the P2 is just not doing it for me. I could try and overlook the problems if this was $800 or so, but $1200+ I can't do it.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

I think they obviously based the pricing off the old one, what they didn't think about though is that back then there were not a lot of big detailed statue's going around and the market was quite small.

Now the market is massive and they have big, bigger than this, detailed statue's on their own website for half the price (looks at Gladiator Hulk). Even the Batman PF is massive and seems well painted (on some of them) and has mixed media that would have been quite difficult to apply. It's $400?

The wild price swings are what really get's to me. That and since it's above $1000 that rules out puschasing from SS due to tax. Even thinking of something like the incredibly detailed "The Reaper" figure just kind of has me scratching my head.

I think I'll stick to my guns and not bend to the pricing war. That's my gut feeling, that I shouldn't be forced into it. It sucks because I really wanted a 1/4 pred.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

This next to an easy sculpt, two tone, $2,000 LSF IM looks like decent value.
Again, show me where I can get a better P2 1:4 statue and I'm in.

You think this is better than Iron man? That's surprising. The Legendary line are over priced as it is which makes the comparison a non starter for me. The only reason I brought up the Reaper is because it's one of the few pieces I've seen that I think is worth the money and it was priced at a realistic amount.

Your second point is the real question. We buy it because it's the only one we can get, I'm not sure that's a real reason to part with $1300. I'm praying someone does a custom because it wouldn't be much more than Sideshow have priced it at. You only pay around $800 - $900 for a fully painted custom, add on the extra size and you'd probably be paying exactly the same for a statue you know got 10 times more attention.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Better value than an IM LSF.

There's a custom 1:4 Pred being made, in a shed, by some company on FB but it looks crap.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

I havent checked in ages, but theres seriously no es yet? A lot of pre orders seem to not have an es up for a long while now. Maybe its time to stop ordering on day 1. :gah:

No doubt it is the "best" P2 1/4 statue, it's the only one right now. That should not be reason alone to buy it. I really do hope they fix some of the issues or it looks better in person.

With the edition sizes they make now there's no point in giving them your money unless it specifically states a number and that number is no more than around 500. Even the massive characters like Batman and Superman are taking a long time to sell out although that's partly to do with the ridiculously high numbers in production (Something like 10,000 total! Collectible huh!)

You can't blame people for ordering this one though, preds do sell well, they are pretty much a stuck on money spinner for SS. I think that's why they leave it a while, they can probably take the chance on making too many. I think the 1/5 line would have sold a little better if they were a bit less creative with the poses and a little better QC on the paint. That and not a lot of people collect 1/5.

There's always the potential of a Legendary scale Predator 1 coming out, now that I could part cash for.

This is another reason I won't spend £1000 on this P2. I'd rather have no P2 maquette than an expensive one I won't be happy with. It does seem the Predator is a likely candidate for an LSF and Sideshow have proven they can make a really good P1. Then there is the possibility that even further down the line the P2 may get the LSF treatment without the mistakes people cried bloody murder about on this maquette. I am disappointed of course that this isn't the P2 I've waited years for, but what is a few more years wait really when you're talking thousands of dollars...

I would sell my son for a Predator LSF :lecture :lol

Its not that bad...but I hate the pose.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Yeh, I was showing the early paint application.
Bad pose, bad paint, removable mandibles that look silly and the company are a joke.
A fellow member showed me pictures of his Batman from them...laughable. He had to return it at his cost of £150 for a replacement.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

I saw the Bruce Wayne sculpt image and didn't care for it much. I've never heard of that company before.
