Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

I hope you do, but highly doubt it getting on even just this late. There was a list of at least 5 or 6 that got on just hours after plus who knows how many not on the boards.

Thanks but I can't tell you how many times I've been on a WL (or a product has been sold out) and I've managed to snag one easily. No worries here :)

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

WL are definitely hit or miss. Look at GL. Maybe 5 conversions total… at least on the boards

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Well, it went from ~30-0 in one day so less than 25 alert and ES announcement would have been a waste of space to them. Technically it has not "sold out" yet, so we won't get that until the WL gets crazy number of people on it. I don't like how they did it, wait that long for ES announcement then just post it with no notification. I bet there are more than a couple people POd about that.

I keep saying we need an inventory tracker on each page like they had years ago, can't understand why they don't do that anymore.

Don't think a tracker is going to happen. Maybe they did use it when still small, producing items with smaller ES, but now, being the 'Empire' that they are, surely they would like to asses how much they can pop out before committing to numbers, and make as much as they can sell, not as much as they are able to pay for in China.

It was not THAT long ago. I don't mean have a tracker before ES is released. I meant after we know how many. Of course unnumbered ones would be harder to do, but they could at least put how many more they are doing instead of just ending the number without warning like the Wolf LSF.

Makes you wonder what would have happened if 400 people put the deposit on the EX when it was TBA.

It's not TBA, more like "made to order"

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Bugger. Do they just send you the bill? Hopefully the shipping is no more than $100 or this will be an expensive project! :horror

It will be held by Fedex and they will call you and want to charge your cc for the fees. I've never had a Sideshow parcel eligible for tax get thru :(

I didn't place an order just so I wouldn't add to a high ES if that's what they were planning. I said I was only going to order if they gave it one and it was low. What do ya know....they finally give it one and I miss it.

I should have taken the hint it was gonna be low by how long it was up for PO.

I guess it's a dangerous game to play, we don't have a lot of information but it's always been a gut feeling by a lot of members that they use the TBA to work out the numbers, holding back would guarantee a lower ES but then make it too low and you risk missing out. I personally always hold off until the numbers are out because putting it bluntly , why should Sideshow get to keep my money for something that could potentially be mass produced and put to better use elsewhere?

I've had plenty from SS but nothing over $1000. The Sauron PF just snuck in under a grand. It really sucks that you have to pay more, I can't imagine living in the UK or parts of Europe where they charge you for anything.

Yea, makes you wonder why it took so long to give an ES, they would have sold out quicker if they would have started at 4-500 right off the bat.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Time is running out. That's why we have an ES now. They can't leave the ES as TBD for very long because their expected release date of August 2014 (which we all know will get pushed back) is coming up.

Also, an ES of 300 tells me, the number of preorders was very low.
I'll be very surprised if the regular actually sells all 1,000 pieces.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

If sideshow had posed it properly it would of sold more. Pose and base are weak.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

More could / should have been done with the base, how hard would it have been to put him on a buildings ledge like in all of the movie promotional material?? As when I think of predator 2 that's the first image that comes to mind. Although if they did that then the pose would have had to have been different to suit I suppose. I think it would help if sideshow actually said what their aim with the base was and what their thinking behind it is (other than cost)

I like to pose, very understated but I am sure in person it will have great presence due to the size and the fact that it is a badass predator!

I am so gutted to have missed the P1 maquette, but I am super pumped for this piece as I think it's uber cool. It is predator after all...

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Good shout, I just looked at some Bucky pf pics and that is spot on. They could've kept the classic sideshow '1 knee up' pose too :rotfl

Like I said they must've had a vision or idea behind the base, would be nice to know what it is as surely when they first thought of predator 2 they pictured him on the buildings ledge and found loads those images when researching him?

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

I like the casual pose, I think the base is more random than weak, I mean what on earth was the thinking behind adding teeth to the front and back of a rock? And the two skulls uniformly pinned on the front look tacky to me, they were clearly an afterthought and put there just for the sake of adding something. I think the base would be better if they simplified it, remove the teeth and skulls and leave it as just a random rock. At least then all of the attention is on the big guy himself where it should be and none of it is diverted to weird design decisions (base wise). To be fair there are limited choices for surfaces going on the film, none that really stand out other than the Eagle building which has been done to death. I liked the little P2 dio that had him perched on one of the pillars from the hotel room though, that was a bit different.

Now that I think about it, I might have gone with a water soaked back alley myself.... And a King Willy head in hand rather than a rubbish breather that nobody or there next door neighbor will even take out of the box.
