Hey guys, just after some opinions. I'm trying to work out a deal with a fellow collector to get the original P1 Maquette (regular, not exclusive) for $2000 shipped. It's a grail piece for me, and one I've been after for a long time. Do you think this price is worth it, or should I just wait for the P2 Maquette instead?

Edit: Forgot to mention, it's brand new as well.

Alien maquettes are $1500 and up on Ebay right now, but sell for around $900-$1000 usually. That's a grail for me, but I'm not overpaying for it. If you think its too much, be patient. More of them will be for sale in the future.

Well I just don't know what the going rate is for these things at the moment, and I don't want to pay more than the market value for it. Is it worth that much to me? Not sure. I love the piece, but it comes down to what the market value is. I simply do not want to pay more than the market value because if I ever need to sell it, I will have to sell for less than I paid. Possibly a lot less if I'm overpaying at 2k, and I don't want to rip myself off. Just want to pay what is considered a fair price. I'd feel more comfortable spending 2 grand on it if I know I can easily get my money back tomorrow if needed. Doubt I'd sell this if acquired, but circumstances do change sometimes, so you never know.

It's just that these things are rare enough as it is, so I don't know when my next chance to get one will be, and this one is brand new. The exclusive usually sells for 3 grand here, and that's before shipping, so it's hard to grab one at a reasonable price. If 2 grand shipped for the regular is not considered a good price, then I'm going to pass and grab the P2 Maquette if it turns out good, but if 2k is considered reasonable then I'll grab it. If anyone who owns this piece can comment, do you think it is worth this money?

This has really been growing on me lately. The masked portrait at least. I think the unmasked head is too inaccurate for my liking.

Haven't seen Creepshow, but yeah - gradually I've become more interested in it.

A P2 maquette has been a grail of mine for a very, very long time. Initially I was disappointed with this, but now that I've warmed up to it more, I need to decide if it's worth it or not. With the mask on, I see P2. Without the mask? Not so much.

Hopefully we'll get one of my other grails sooner or later, a life-size P2 bust. And hopefully SS won't F it up too bad.

The original P1 1:1 bust had some minor flaws but (IMO) is still one of the best ever that Sideshow have produced. Has pride of place to the left of my monitor to this day.

Chances of them matching this with a P2 piece in fibreglass and with a quality paintjob .................... mmmmm - I'm thinking "not so much" . . .

I don't own the P1 bust, but was never impressed with it's paint app based on the pictures I've seen. Same goes for the P1 Maquette.

I like P2 without the bio. He's got a unique crown that I like to be able to see. However, this thing is going to need some quills.

Really? The bio, along with the head in general actually is my biggest disappointment on this one. other aspects have grown on me however. The bio is the wrong shape, wrong colour (dull), wrong texture (too much) etc etc, it just doesn't look or feel like the P2 bio imo, hero or stunt. If they had been given the opportunity to revisit the head to fix the mask and dreads at least, this would be way up there on the list of best predator collectibles. I'm sure it will be good no doubt and I'm looking forward to having it in front of me, it just could have been incredible.

Yeah, I know. Both sculpts are inaccurate, but from certain angles I think the masked sculpt looks OK.

Maybe I'm only being more accepting of it because I want some P2 collectibles so bad.

Uhg, in the comparison you've posted it reminds me more of the McFarlane P2 bio.

Also, I think the brows are too small as well. Or they at least need to be lowered. Not quite sure, but something's definitely off. I think the LSB got the sculpt down for the most part.

If you have to choose one, I too would rather have a piece that needs new paint instead of one that needs a new sculpt.
Too bad we can't have both here.
