Doesn't it get a bit old with the constant Sideshow defending?

I wasn't bashing Sideshow. I was giving my opinion of the bio-masks in response to your comment: "I don't think too many folks collect these bios". I love life-size bio masks and they'd likely be the largest part of my collection if Sideshow's quality wasn't mostly subpar on them. It's as simple as that.

Of course I don't have any custom made as that would likely cost me 3 times what Sideshow charges, and I don't have that kind of money right now.

I own Celtic and Mr. Black, and that Wolf bio "deluxe" (recast I imagine) with all of the added interior detailing that was very popular a few years ago.

Burgerman? Come on!.. Doesn't it get a bit old with the SS quality comments? I mean.. Are they perfect? No! Could you have ones custom made? Sure! Do you? No!

How many sideshow predator bios do you currently own?

In fairness, the AVP bios especially are the worst collectables I've ever received. Sculpts are good mostly being from the ADI castings but everything else was bad. Cheap, or no lenses at all. Simple one colour rushed paint, visible brush strokes all around, paint brush bristles and even a 4" human hair embedded into the paint, I could go on. I modified and properly painted my Scar and love it totally now (more so until it had an unfortunate accident!! :() but that shouldn't be necessary. I never got around to fixing my Celtic properly so it sits in the corner as a reminder looking a bit sad.

Things picked up with the Predators masks for sure though. None the less, I think all of the troubles the line had earlier on is reflected in the recent outings. The P1 should have had the biggest ES by a country mile, but it has half that of even Scar. People have been scared off of this line it seems. And it's very unfortunate, because they are cool... Still tempted to get the P2, that warping is annoying me though, is it noticeable so much in person?

Here's to hoping the P1 is great, we'll find out in less than two weeks! :hi5:

Well said. Some harder-to-see areas of my Celtic bio aren't even painted. :slap

The Predators bios were definitely an improvement, and I'm mostly satisfied with my Mr. Black. I just wish his jaw bone didn't look so toyish, and though the bio's paint job is pretty good, it should have had coppery layers/highlights like the film bio does.

It is 100% a recast of the Sideshow Wolf.
I'm not in the habit of collecting recasts, but I'd never get rid of this one as it looks phenomenal and there's no way I could ever get one of the originals.

The inner detailing, the tube/hose connectors, the LED lasers, the almost real-metal paint job, etc. It's fantastic.

See, that's the thing.. I'm not defending sideshow... Never said that all the QC issues weren't real or they're somehow above reproach.. I just comment on the tired and old sideshow sucks comments... And what you said regarding not wanting or being able to pay three times as much for the same bio that SS puts out explains where I'm coming from...

Sideshow is a business! Plain and simple.. If it wasn't for them and what they do I wouldn't have all of the collectibles I do.. Oh, and btw.. If you ever want to see a real sideshow apologist.. Talk with The Josh! :wink1:

Here's a quick pic of my wall of shame... I think I might like these bios... :wink1:

I never said Sideshow sucks, either. A lot of the collectibles they make have crappy quality. A lot of the collectibles they make have good quality. More could and should be of better quality though. It is what it is, and I tell it as it is. I have no desire to see Sideshow fail out of some personal spite, but if a new SS collectible comes out with subpar quality, I'm going to comment on it.

And yeah, you can't post any criticism/complaint about a Middle Earth-related Sideshow or Weta product without Josh's typical passive aggressive replies.

I remember when people were posting photos of their Sauron PF repaints and he mostly wouldn't even acknowledge them, or simply say "I still think the production paint is fine" or "A repaint wasn't necessary". :rotfl

You can see the influence of the P2 in the wolf there. Do you have the HCG mask to compare?

Nope.. I remember seeing it in a store before I got into collecting the bios and didn't like it.. Haven't seen it in person since... Would like to though to see if my tastes have changed...

You have all of those and didn't like the HCG P2? It is my favourite by far. I even prefer it to the SS Wolf which is excellent. The only problem with the HCG P2 is that people regularly compare it to the Hero bio and criticize it unfairly due to that mistake. In reality it is an excellent reprisentation of a bio that actually appeared on screen. It is directly cast from the Surviving stunt mask, it is well painted in the correct colours and includes an accurate lens! (For the stunt) The stand doesn't look great in pictures but is much nicer in person. I like it a lot, if you get a chance to see it again, I think you will too. I might actually grab the SS P2, it's eating away at me.... I'll just sell it if I don't like it. We'll see...

Excuse the other bits, this is the only decent picture I have, I will take a lot more soon, love it.

It it had to be at least 5 or so years ago.. That's a damn nice pic.. Might have to look into picking one up here soon... :wink1:

I've said this before but I think the HCG bio looks too dull/dusty. Of course that's just judging by photos. Never seen it in person.

Still, I'm tempted to pick one up on eBay every now and then.

It is meant to be, the colour is accurate to the stunt bio. The powdery appearance is also apparent in person, combined with the copper oxide effect it adds a lot of character to it. It really is a very nice piece. I wish Hcg would release their P1 with a simple stand but it is very unlikely.

That's another thing I find funny... Even when something looks exactly like it did in the movie someone still has to find something wrong with it.. Just shows that no matter what any company produces there will always be the poo talkers..
Even if it was pulled direct from the film set there would be "inaccuracies"!! :slap

I think people just confuse the hcg mask with the much more familiar hero version. They look the same, but also very different when you really pay attention. If you didn't know of the stunt masks existence, it would be easy to confuse it as just a dull hero with more open lenses. It is only seen in the scene where he climbs along the train roof.

I'd love a decent hero mask, but if you want a screen accurate p2 mask, the hcg is the only option for now. Doesn't bother me that it is the stunt as it looks excellent in its own right.

I thought you decided we were getting along now?

The P2 bio did not look dull or dusty in the film. The prop might have actually been dull/dusty, but it didn't look it in the movie. It was quite shiny. The version used for the majority of the film, at least.

If I remember correctly, the stunt bio that HCG's is cast from was only seen in one scene in the film, when the predator is crawling on top of the train. I don't recall the bio looking dull/dusty in that scene, but it was a very dark scene so I might not be able to tell regardless.

Anyway, whether it's accurate to the bio used in that scene or not, I don't like it. The color isn't the same as the bio used in the other 99% of the film.

This is what I see when I think of P2:

It's got that shiny, dirty gold thing going on.
