Cool discussion going on her.

My take is that no Predator movie will ever surpass the first one due to many reasons, but the main one is the suspense about knowing what is the being that is hunting them. After that, any other Predator movie we know what they are.

Now, Predator 2 for me, is better than Prey. Prey is a good movie because it just follows the same formula as the first 3. But what I did not like or got into, i the Predator being defeated in an era where technology was so dated. Does not matter he startegy or whatever. Even Batman got whooped by a Pred and had to rely on technology to be on par. And yet they have a Native girl outsmart and beat him?

I kinda of stopped looking for these films to "top each other" decades ago. I just take them for what they are (or aren't, in some cases) and forget about them pretty quickly.

Exactly why they shouldn’t exist.

Probably. But it's hard to imagine a world without a new Predator or Alien film every 5 or 10 yrs I guess. Sigh.

The only way to make another good one,
of either, is to forget about the monsters,
forget about gender and storytelling that’s far too similar to every other active project in Hollywood
the past ten years or so.

Focus on set design and character development.
Put your characters through hell, cast actors that can express genuine emotion on screen, light your monsters in sublime yet subtle ways. If your characters don’t go through hell on earth, why root for them? Why care at all to see what happens to each as they get picked off? You should feel genuine emotion to each crew member that succumbs to the monsters, whether that be good or bad, not indifference.

Hmmm not sure how I feel about that. Depends entirely on execution and what "non human" means in this context.
If it's just guys with blue face paint and bumps on their heads ala Star Trek/Star Wars that's a big no from me.
If it's proper alien life forms then yeah maybe.
In any case, my previous post stands, they're going to have to win me over with great, engaging, trailers that make me want to watch it.
might be like avatar. alien face prosthetics because of the company they hired for the effects

Perhaps Androids, would be an interesting way to reconnect the two franchises again.

Technology has never been the deciding factor in any of the films, otherwise they'd blast us to kingdom come every time. It has to come down to strategy (and, usually, the Predator's hubris).

Correction, technology has never been the deciding factor in the finale, but for the rest of the cast? Always. So in more ways than not, it is the deciding factor.

In Prey, at least that scene crows showed me, every one of the French killed, is done so by his advance weaponry.

That's not what MxBxM was referring to. The other characters were shredded before the finale.

We get it, you refuse to like the movie you clearly haven't seen. 🏅

She sets his biomask up in an exact perfect spot well in advance where even slightly off she’d be dead.

Case closed. 👍🏻

She’s never used technology like that in her life, because to her, it doesn’t exist.

She observes how the mask works earlier in the movie.

And Arnold gambles the Predator will walk around the tunnel he made to the exact spot under the log, so... :dunno

Not comparable at all.

Not only did it not do what Arnold needed it to do,
he had to change his plan by tripping it himself because the Predator went the opposite way. He set two traps, the spikes as well as the log, both of which triggered by the same line, just in case it goes the opposite way.

The original Predator is no perfect film, the laughing the Predator does in the finale is atrocious and should have never made the cut, but at least it isn’t this level.

Here in Prey, the girl sets it up in the exact placement to the T, then, she has to absolutely bet on the fact that he’ll use it the very moment he’s in the required spot for her plan to work, even though he doesn’t have the mask on or on his person, while knowing this, he activates it anyways.

Please.

Spare me.

miracles happen.the time, even in real life.
she was helped by her native spirit guides.

My point with the tech is more like this: trained men with better weaponry barely made it. So having someone "inferior" in every aspect beating it fairly easy compared to the rest, does take away from the real threat and danger a Pred poses.

Prey is still an enjoyable movie, I was entertained through all of it, but again, I loved AVPR because it gave me what I wanted, Preds and Aliens killing and a cool Pred.
