I didn't say let them write it. hahahaha. Just make the props/suits. Fan made movies usually suck. Badly. Really, REALLY badly.

They do. Some are good...but are hard to remember.

I think the problem with fan films is they get all caught up in the effects, and stuff, and they forget the story and acting. Bad acting you can deal with...but a bad story...is unforgivible.

The opposite is true aswell: Great story + Great acting + horrible/cheesy effects = Garbage.

There has to be a balance. And fan made movies rarely find that. Dead-End is often mentioned as a great fan made movie but for me, I just don't see it. The costumes were great and top notch but imo it as nothing more than a FX/Prop infomercial. The story, if you wanna call it that, was beyond convoluted and the acting was pretty terrible aswell (Boner from "Growing Pains" as the Joker!?) But I see tons of people praising that as some kind of milestone for fan made projects.

man that video makes me want to construct an perdator outfit....... how much you think one one them cost £1000? £3000? with them standards i think it wont be cheap =( because if it looks cheap and nasty its not worth doing

I think it was (and this goes for me as well), it looks great, and is just a simple story, with some very impressive effects. It did set the bar for other fan films.
