Anime has been popular since the late 70s...
I wouldn't say it was popular at all. It was very niche. Even well into the 90's it was very niche.
You can't compare its popularity even 20 years ago to what it is now.
It's wildly popular with younger generations, way more than more than my generation.
My humble little comment was simply to say I don't like anime so will be skipping this, but that's ok, youngsters like anime a lot. To me 30 year olds are youngsters.
