Predators are really that rare???

Hi
so i have been looking for some time now to no prevail for a predator i would be happy to spend some money on.
are they really that rare? I am looking for an AVP predator (any) but they all go for almost or over $1000 on ebay???
this is far too much
so i thought about going for the original predator but that also goes for $500 or more on Ebay and considering the mask it comes with is such a bad sculpt that i would have to get a custom one anyway and that it is inaccurately short for a predator it does not seem worth $500 for it.
so then there is the guardian predator who is going for $350-$500
with this i would also probably want to trade out the mask for a custom because i do not really like the one it comes with so i realize this is not really worth it either.
so my last resort was to find parts and build my own from scratch... also no luck there. parts from predators cost almost $100 each so that is stupid also.
why is it that the predators are such a rare piece... you can still find the aliens online for under $200
what should i do about my predator needs?
i heard a rumor that there is a classic predator coming out for predators, however i have not seen the movie yet and have no idea if i would like this one or not (I also cannot find any pictures of it)
any ideas guys? because i am all out.

They're not rare, they're just extremely popular.

At this point your best bet is to hold out for the next new one to come out and jump on a pre-order. Or you could go for the Lost Pred (from Predator 2). I think he can still be had for around $200.

My idea would be to buy them from here . Newer Preds (the ones that will come out later this year and early next) you can still get on eBay and other online retailers. For older ones like what you described, use the BST section here. eBay is more often than not a tough place to get HT Preds. First of all, because it's eBay and the general public goes there, the prices are at least $100-$200 more inflated -- unless you're in luck and find a reasonable Buy It Now. Also, new/boxed ones raise the already-high price by another $100-$200.

Use a collectors' forum like SSF. If you don't care about the box, buy loose. It's probably the cheapest way to go and you can get most if not all of the Preds you're after (even the AVP's) for under $400 or $500 each. I've gotten three older Preds from here and the transactions have always been reasonable, pleasant, and successful. Don't think there's a better alternative out there.

these newer ones sculpt wise will put all those older ones to shame. for the price those AVP ones go for these days, i would recommend spending it on other stuff cause you will get more for your money. Those AVP figures are really popular and if yur rich, than by all means go for it, but they're overrated imo and i had all of them at one point and payed a premium for most of them at the time, wasnt worth it. i regret buying them to begin with, i should have just jumped into high end statues to begin with

I paid original retail for all the early HT preds when they came out. Wish I still had them now, I would turn a few over and get the SSC Maquette

I know the feeling most of the predators seems to be silly money, but ive had some luck getting cheaper ones of late.

All i can suggest to you is keep trying eventually you might luck out like i have and get one for the price you want to pay and not the over inflated prices.

I was watching a P1 on ebay (already have one, just wanted to pick one up for parts) but it ended up selling for over £300. Cant believe its going for that much already. Crazy stuff.

These Predators are just too much. I've been wanting to get Scar, Chopper and Celtic, but I think all three together should be under a grand. Even then 330 a piece for a 1/6 scale is overboard. Instead, if you decide on getting all three of these, you're looking at $2000.00 more or less. Definitely not worth it compared to full end statues and amazing busts you can have made for this kind of money. Get the new pre-orders. That Berserker looks much better than any Predator I've seen up until now.

I guess if some people have the money to burn they will spent those prices but i know a great deal of people wouldnt spend that high a price for these figures.

This is kinda what i keep thinking. If people werent so desperate they'll pay anything then im sure these wouldnt be so high in price.

What I did was get the newer ones, and the P1. Yes, MMS90 is well worth it in spite of the mask and is THE Predator to get. It's the only Pred I paid premium for (around USD250 from a local collector here). Sometimes, you'd get lucky and find a good deal on eBay. I found a Cleaner Kit Pred for USD190, so I snatched it up. After that, I just concentrated on pre-ordering the newer ones.

IMHO, don't bother with the older Preds. I can't justify paying over $300 for the older ones (well, maybe except for P2 Pred - the main character, not those extras).

Yeah, anything over $300 for any Predator but THE Predator and the P2 Predator is ridiculous. I wouldn't pay that much for the AVP ones. They really aren't that impressive to me. The Elder Pred from is P2 is awesome though but I wouldn't ever pay the price he goes for.

They are very popular so either suck it up and pay out the money or just wait for the new ones coming out later this year and next.

I must be the only Freak on this forum who isn't all over Preds. I have no desire to get one, whether it be a P1, P2, AVP or whatever. All I can do is thank the stars for my mysterious lack of interest, because I feel for all you guys who love them and have to either chance upon a lucky score, or fork out a huge wad of cash for instant gratification.

Good luck with the hunt xkage, when you get one in your hands you'll love it all the more.

Not if you buy 'em loose from here. You could probably get the three for under $1000. And if $330 per AVP Pred is too much, then it's been said, no Preds for you. Technically, anything under $400 would be considered decent.
