Looks pretty good imo! I missed out on this one because I thought the proto looked pretty bad but this is definitely serviceable. Is this even up for sale anymore? I checked Gian and Kit, nada.
Looks pretty bad to me: busty body, giant zippers on pockets, cheap unfitted t-shirt, bendy arms from 2010 that will dry and crack in under 3 years, terrible paint on the facehugger with the red knuckles like something from ToyBiz... overall, for $210 on a pretty bare bones figure, it should be a lot better. A lot.
Agree the sculpted hair looks a lot more simplified than the prototype and the head in general looks a little bit to big for the body, a real shame since I was really looking forward to this RipleyI don't know.
She seems to have lost the heavy weathering from her shirt, and the strands of hair over her forehead are now a simplified single clump.
They already have the Power Loader prototype - it would be a no brainer - release her with and without the powerloader. A two-pack with Newt would be a great option too!I have been tempted by this, but I think the success of Romulus will hopefully tempt Hot Toys to do a new Ripley from Aliens. Just imagine if they invested in a Newt too and a base with eggs. I have no doubt it would be huge success for them. These films: Alien, Aliens, T1, T2 and Predator are iconic for a reason.
The hair isn't hot toys and the zippers do seem big...Good improvement but for that price it should be much better. That hair is atrocious, the base needs a quality grating pattern and the egg/facehugger are essentially copies of that awful original mold - zero improvement. The boots and pants are really the only upgrades here. The body seems comparable to many others and HTs old weapons seem better.
Agreed, the hair and zippers are 2008 quality. The zippers shouldn't bulge out of those edges and need to be blue (not black) with pull tabs at the ends! The hair isn't hot toys and the zippers do seem big...
Good theoryPresent Toys is very uneven... seems to have different "groups" (like HT) that make the figures -- there's an "A" group that makes good figures like the Boardwalk Empire ones and then there's the C Group that makes figures like this.
I'm sure presales also impacts how much energy and effort PT assigns to a project.
Unfortunately if they don't have something to recast it's very unlikelyAt least we are getting something here. Hopefully PT can produce a first ever Newt and follow in pursuit with the USCM marines! Ideally we need a company to create licensed human characters.
That's true but perhaps it may have been leaked or simply based on HT's sculpt since most of their figures are. I wouldn't be surprised if they are not very familiar with the movie.Good theory
That would explain a lot

Wow is this a known fact? Companies prioritize effort on popularity but this would take it to another level. Cult Classics will always be popular and in today's day and age higher quality is valued most (i.e., Inart). They should be made at a high level or offered at a much lower price if we are receiving such disastrous quality. Without the suboptimal egg/base/facehugger it could have run much closer to a reasonable 150 USD and allowed more resources to further improve the figure.Present Toys is very uneven... seems to have different "groups" (like HT) that make the figures -- there's an "A" group that makes good figures like the Boardwalk Empire ones and then there's the C Group that makes figures like this.
