Wow they went over 2k for the regular version...

At least they are being upfront about the support rods now and not waiting until release but it's shady that the P1 director tried to cover that up.

They mentioned wanting to make the full ff7 cast, but they are gonna have a hard time selling 1/4 Cid for 2k... half of this series is DOA at this price point

that's what I'm thinking; they'll have to price some/most of the other characters lower, surely...but they'll still be overpriced no doubt and... I just dunno how those don't end up DOA as you say, collecting dust on their shelves. Maybe v small/limited runs or...worst would be two packs only of some or something. It's so dumb and unnecessary to charge this much; people who would've bought the entire line-up will now be able to afford some fraction of it or will opt out entirely, isn't it better to sell plenty more of them to people who want them than overcharge a much more limited subset of fans who can afford them

Well the edition size is "TBA" so they probably won't over produce. I could definitely see them lumping the less popular characters together in a diorama because Cloud and Tifa are the only characters most people would buy as one offs.

They'll probably test the waters with the number of Zack POs... it's possible they drop the line if the orders are low so they are kinda shooting themselves in the foot.

That said, I think the price is mostly due to the SQEX license cost

I simply don’t think these look right imo. The likeness of all characters is off imo. Something about them just seems “off” to me. Not even about the money for me but I can’t justify dropping that kind of cash on an “off” likeness that needs sword supports. Sounds like a disaster waiting to happen imo. I think Gametoys have the best likeness so far.

There's definitely something fishy going on about the support poles. The listings originally had poles included for all of the products, but now when I refreshed the P1 site, they've REMOVED all mentions of the poles. Same with the JP P1 site. The Square Enix JP store still has the support rods listed as included.

The P1 Admins also deleted a lot of the comments on their FB group from people asking about the support rods.

I'm guessing the plan is
1. Develop an idealistic prototype
2. Worry about logistics later
3. ???
4. Profit

Their "power master optimus" also has support rods despite no mention or inclusion in the PO pics.

I'm sure they will do their best to make it stable without external support, but I would be prepared for the possibility it will end up in the final production. And if not, I would still be weary of leaning.

Absurd pricing and support rods aside, DX Sephiroth coming with an entirely separate upper toso without a wing, rather than a simple swap-out part, tells you just about everything you need to know about these.

This is the type of sword warping I've mentioned before. It is a common issue with P1, and probably polystone statues in general. You can already see the protos drooping and the handle starting to look curved. I guarantee this will not be better on final product over time. It's clear P1 knows this thus the support rods.

The crux of the issue is, I honestly don't think most would mind clear plastic support rods - it's the dishonesty that's the problem. Be up front about it, tell your customers that it's the best solution to realise the presentation you have in mind, either that or go with different poses.

imo, I know neutral poses are not as interesting, but maybe if they wanted to do Cloud/Zack/Sephi as their first three statues, maybe do them in their Rebirth cover art poses?

way priced out and damn over $2k? I've always wanted prime1 batman statues and they are $900-$1400 for 1/3 but $2000 for 1/4 is a bit extreme

The SE JP store mentions the weapons being made of ABS so that’s definitely not surprising that they’re warping. Any amount of heat and gravity over time will make those the handles bend.
