Super Freak
Imagine they screw up the paint on this...
Good to see you back my friend! No offence taken Steve - that's actually a fair comment - but the main reason I'm passing on this is because he's a fat & stumpy wee bugger
Python, greygoose, Jake207, Dundee, JAWS, Collectorcol (and thanks to JAWS for the PM heads-up ) . . . just taking a back-seat for a while - too much churn for me - these predator threads started to seem a lot like being on Twitter and I’ve no horse in these races.
I’m sure you folks have things under control.
I sincerely appreciate the concern though - thank-you!
PS: Wow - things sure have changed around here - MAJOR forum "upgrade" ?!?!??!?!
.
Yeah, the body is fine, some ppl aren't realizing the angle includes a twisted torso with some lats and back. If you look at the Pred at an angle showing the body straight on, it's pretty accurate.Rewatched the scene where the Predator fights Dutch and I noticed a shot from further away (limiting the effects of lens distortion) that still shows the Predator's torso to be a bit wide. He's not fat by any means (and I wouldn't consider the Prime 1 statue to be either), but his torso is not as slim and long as the CM and SWS maquettes made it out to be. If anything, it's KPH's legs and arms that give the creature a sometimes lanky look.
Well, superficial reason is the size. Much larger, easier to paint detail BUT imho, it's the character. They made only 750 total 1/4 city hunters and fans will buy and move on but this screen accurate Jungle Hunter will not only get twice as many made, bigger customer base, but will be discussed and relevant within the fandom and statue community as a whole for the next 5-10 years easy. That's a good decade of promotion, even long after it sells out, Prime 1s brand and reputation is on the line in a pretty big way for a chunk of collectors. A dodgy city hunter release will get forgotten about in a few months. A dodgy 87 jungle hunter? Prime 1 will be shamed for years. Just my opinion anyway. The city hunter reviews I've seen look amazing tho.Proto looks amazing with the updates, and I'm really tempted. Then I think about the paint application on the 1/4 scale City Hunter (a substandard effort, in regards to the skin imo). Is there any reason to believe this will be vastly superior?
Agreed mate. I own the City Hunter and thibk it's great for the price. As for this guy, they can't afford to screw this up. The amount of changes due to feedback from fans shows me they know that tooWell, superficial reason is the size. Much larger, easier to paint detail BUT imho, it's the character. I don't think the final paint on the CH misses the mark as severely as the Big Game 1/4. Seems to be your usual proto-to-production decline, the only crime of which would be the small patches on the back where they simply forgot to add dots (and this varies from piece to piece unfortunately). But it certainly looks like they were trying to match the moves and decisions made on the prototype. A larger scale and ultra-premium budget will hopefully mitigate these kinds of problems. Then I think about the paint application on the 1/4 scale City Hunter (a substandard effort, in regards to the skin imo). Right, the amount of "upgrades" and progression. They're going for a masterpiece here. Which will give them promotion for years to come.Agreed mate. The changes happened that fast that's it's obvious they had the extras already planned or on standby. Gives the impression that they're exceeding the fans expectations.Agreed mate. Extras like the spine and closed mandibles, yes. Doubt the bio mask, skin texture, cannon position, teeth ect were planned. Even those little things I cant tell you the last time anyone was that quick to reactThe changes happened that fast that's it's obvious they had the extras already planned or on standby. Yeah you're right. They appear to care a lot about the character.Extras like the spine and closed mandibles, yes. Doubt the bio mask, skin texture, cannon position, teeth ect were planned. Even those little things I cant tell you the last time anyone was that quick to react
The wide open mouth is the same sculpt from big game so the dipple is likely gonna stay. However, why there's black in some of the big games is a head scratcher. Looks bad, that's one little thing I wouldn't mind them touching it up.Do you think they'll get rid of the chin dimple? Some of the Big Game even had black painted in it for some reason
