I think the quills are definitely better in this scale compared to the 1/4

I agree. I am quite happy with everything I've seen from the quills on this. Does anyone think they just made the 1/4 quills work for the 1/3 by cutting them longer, which makes them fit the larger scale better? I guess someone can compare when this is in hand.

I don't understand how anyone can say the paint on this looks like the 1/4, let alone worse. They both use decals, but the spots on the 1/4 were jagged, sloppy, and overlapped each other to the point where the forehead looked like a muddy mess. The skin color was way too dark and they even shaded the area between the eyebrows a dull grey.

None of that happens here, the skin pattern reads objectively better. The dots are the right shape, the gaps between them are even, and you can tell what the pattern is doing from a distance. That may sound like the bare minimum for a mass-produced Predator statue, but it didn't happen on the last one.

I want what Flankster's smoking, must be good stuff.

Overall, this statue, based on these early photos, don't warrant the asking price(as well as shipping). People were saying P1 was going all out on this piece. very clearly, they did not. The quality and technique used for this piece, don't look any better to the 1/4. The evidence of this is demonstrated in the above photo alone!

I unfortunately had to PO this piece direct from P1. I will not pay $1500 in shipping for something that looks like this. I'm waiting for more pics, but clearly, my expectations have been tempered.

Agreed, in regards to paint finish; from what we can see. Not the standout I was hoping it would be, but definitely ok. I won't be rushing out to secure one currently, but will at least follow with interest.

This is really premature, but:

I think the CM has a "prettier" finish, if that makes sense. Definitely has a more airbrushed look (because it is), but there's only so much complexity you can expect from an airbrush on a mass-produced product. The density of spots is higher on the Prime 1 pieces.

Between the two Prime 1 heads, I just go with the one I can most easily read while squinting. The contrast of the black dots against the brown ones, the lightness of the skin, the degree to which it evokes the look of the film mask:

Even blurred, the new 1/3 looks like the closest we've gotten.

The CM is easily the best painted Predator. You can see the lineage of both Prime 1's portraits; they're done using the same technique.

The Prime 1 1/3 Predator is still the best statue, regardless.

Agree. Quills look sharper, spots haven't been misaligned and the tone looks a bit lighter. Still need more pics to really be able to tell, but so far its looking decent (or at least within pass range for me).

That Predator is so big that it's size will probably test or maybe even end some relationships/marriages. From what I've seen so far comparing the CM Predator and the Prime 1's attempt is like comparing a minivan with a muscle car. That pictures Rotfish uploaded especially the first picture with heads side by side it really shows how superior Prime 1 Predator actually is...

Ah, Leo Leung. He posted the glamour shots of the 1/4 last year. I have to take the colors in these with a grain of salt, but what I can tell is that the spots on the legs and back are rounder and clustered together more organically.

EDIT: They kept the minnows in the water! And the pebbles under the water all have different colors! I wonder if they poured real pebbles into the base before adding the translucent resin. Would be very impressive if that's just a painted surface.
