Statue Prime 1 Venom Revealed !!

Only wishful thinking on my part, but I'm hoping others feel the same way as this person does about the XM Venom so I can have a chance at buying him ��

In reality anyone who lives in the U.S. and Canada never had a chance to order XM venom at retail so that is a big part of the negatives against it.

The Ease of acquiring the Prime 1 Venom with the click of a button makes it easy for people to make other offerings non existent to them.

For me XM venom will take work to obtain, but the head sculpts along with the body and pose sells it for me along with XMs QC, and Bullet proof packing makes it my Venom.

As with anything this is just my opinion.

It really depends how much you like it and whether it's worth the amount you will be paying for it. I think it looks great as well, but to pay $2000+ in addition to the $300-$400 shipping charges for it, I think I'd rather save that $1k+ for another statue and go with Prime 1, which I agree does show the more wild/intense/crazy/vicious side of Venom compared to the other two.

As for XM Magneto I wasn't really collecting statues when it was announced, I slept on a couple deals that I saw come through and I'll never do that again if it's a piece I really want. As a result I paid an amount for Magneto that my close friends and family that don't collect can't comprehend, but I'm very happy with having him in my collection

For me it's not about quantity as it is more about quality and design of a piece. Having the McFarlane and eddy Brock morphing head along with the pose is why I chose XM over P1. I have no interest in a special version from Dark origins. It's like Prime one couldn't get a license for the traditional version so they decided to make one from a newer short run comic series instead.

Had XM been available to pre-order via distributor, I probably would've went that route as well since size is an issue with the P1 and I'm still trying to figure that one out as well. But yeah, for a 1/4 scale I wouldn't pay current prices for it since that money can be used elsewhere for bills, food, etc. or another statue. How much did you end up paying for the Magneto?

Yeah I would love to have an easy pre order button for U.S. and Canada, but most likely it will never happen since Sideshow has the 1/4 Marvel licensing locked up for ages now . Look at Venom Sideshow gets to create a more classic Venom even though I don't like the ape like pose it could have been an awesome piece for me. Prime one is partnered with Sideshow now and gets a piece of their pie, but still can't produce a classic Venom, hence the reason why they chose the Dark Origin series to base sculpt off of.

Sideshow has it all Locked up for the U.S. and Canadian market.

As for Magneto I don't want to discuss how much I paid, but like I said it was something crazy enough that my close friends and family cant understand even when they know I spend about a minimum of a grand for each regular release piece like Blackbolt, Medusa, Sandman when I'm able to pre order using a middle man seller in Singapore.

All I can say there is a Venom for everyone! I actually love all 3 of them. However I still feel overall XM has the better Venom. The alternate portraits are better. The pose on both XM and Prime 1 are stellar.

Agreed. I've shipped large Premium format statues for about 60-70.00USD inside the U.S. Just as a regular walk in customer at my local Fedex.

I do feel that having the Prime one partnership helps out collectors. Instead of having them shipped from Japan direct, they simply ship pallets of them on a Boat via Sea to Sideshow paying customs fees, then Sideshow turns around and charges current Ground UPS & Fedex rates which is just like sending a Premium format with the exception of the box being a little larger.

With that said the people living in the U.S. really benefit the most compared to other areas because if they would order Prime 1 from Japan it would cost about 300USD to ship the same Statue vs about 90USD. Plus with buying through Sideshow you get 5% back in reward points.

Yeah I tried ordering a coolprops predator 2 bust just yesterday and was shocked that it was going to cost over $100 dollars to ship to me despite living only an hour away from Sideshow. Add to that CA taxes and I was looking at 200 bucks on top of the retail price. I've now gotten a small taste of how international collectors feel, and have been priced out for one of the very first times.

while I can see what ssc is saying I don't believe it one bit. their pieces have been (cube) rated forever and it's been standard shipping practices for couriers to charge that way for as long as I can remember. I know that a company that ships the amount of volume that ssc does would be getting at least a 50% (probably more) discount on the shipping then just any regular guy going into and shipping like we do. So if it costs me $75cdn to ship a statue to the usa using ups and SSC charges me $90usd for an equivalent sized piece...I know they are making money on the shipping rates....We use to do it all the time at our business and we only got around 30% discounts from couriers depending on our volume of business.

I never considered buying any Venom until I saw what P1 put out. Ordered day 1. This thing is a beast. XM's & Sideshow's versions are lacking intensity. They seem a little too calm, and standard for the Venom character. P1's Venom is exactly how I see Venom, wild and ferocious. Definitely gonna be one of the strongest contenders for Statue of the Year 2018. And I really cant see XM's Venom standing a chance against it. This thing is going to be awesomeness to behold!!

I think P1 does about as good of a job with QC as XM... At least from what I have seen.

Personally I think both are great.. There are things I like about both and have trouble choosing a clear winner. I said this before on another thread but I am glad I cant get the XM piece because I would have to choose between the two and I don't think I could. I love the musculature and the McFarlane head on the XM piece but prefer the Open mouth heads on the Prime 1. I also like the Prime 1 base a lot more then XM. I guess if I really had to choose I would go with Prime 1 because I prefer the two open mouth sculpts and I like Venom with a flailing tongue Eddie head is great but I would never use it. I don't really care for the open mouth head on the XM... But man that McFarlane head is Killer! Basically I can see using all three heads on P1.

All in all, I think its very cool that we have a selection of 1 OG , and three New Venom statues to choose from. Choosing the Venom that is right for each of us is all we really need to do as it will stand proudly in our homes.

Sorry yes absolutely right the dimensional weight is the major problem. It is also why they wanted to charge me $900 to ship Kratos on the throne they actually complained that the box was like a coffin. I obviously got my non refundable deposit back.
