And the cleft is there! :horror

Boy the paint apps on this really did a disservice.

Yes, he does have that Cleft in his chin. But there's a lot of asymmetry in the face; The whole right side of his face is slightly higher then his left side, But his jaw line is square and level. I'm not sure if Viggo has this asymmetry, but it's there in the sculpt.

Edit:
Also for anyone at Sideshow reading, the first resin cast picture link doesn't work.

I don't think anyone can deny the likeness. Just with Viggo, the sculpt looks very different under different lighting, angles, etc.

Told ya it was there :D

It also looks a lot like Viggo. :D

Edit: As far as the paint aps doing this a disservice. Nah I think it was more people not stepping back for a second and wanting to condem it right away. IMO of course.

Wow. Looks great. I, for one, am really glad that the stubble is in the sculpt I was worried it was going to be painted in.

I think we were seeing some differences in the prototype because of the way the plastic may shrink after being molded. Sideshow seems to be getting better and better at keeping things consistant so I really have my hopes up for thise line.

Looks good unpainted, mmm i noticed Kit Fisto hands someone know which will be the exclusive

I don't think they will be the exclusives. The other figures haven't had their extra hands as exclusives. It would be pretty lame if they did.

The slant of the head sculpt is funny. Looks like a huge battle wound.

Looks pretty good to me. A bit more like Viggo than I first thought.

Damn you ScreamingMetal, now I can't stop staring at his asymmetric nostrils! :google :D

LOL, sorry about that.
I looked at a few pics of Viggo online to be sure that the asymmetry is not present in Viggo's face, and I'm sure he has a much more symmetrical face. His right eye, right nostril, and right side of the corner of the lips are higher then the left side. The only asymmetry I noticed is that his right eye is slightly higher then his left, but not nearly as high as it is on the prototype head sculpt. His Nose, and mouth should be much straighter and level then they are on the prototype.
I think it's close but too flawed to look exactly like Viggo Mortensen.

Well, I haven't looked at any pictures of Viggo, but most faces are slightly asymmetrical. If you look at anyone long enough and ask yourself, "Which eye is higher than the other?" you'll eventually be able to identify one or the other as being higher.

I found these new photos, like the later prototype photos, a huge relief. The breadth of the face is there. The proportions are there. It's a masterful likeness, sez I.

This figure looks so good in the raw that if paint apps screw it up, I'll commission a paint slinger to fix it. I've hired two extremely talented pros to build up resin kits for me in the past. The guys who can do it are out there. Mat's work is worth a rescue if need be. Don't even start with me about getting your money's worth the first time.

Props to Mat Falls!

Yes a little asymmetry, but there is too much here. I did notice Viggo has some slight asymmetry in his eyes, chin, and jaw line but it's far less then is present in the head sculpt. Most normal people do have asymmetry, but there are a beautiful few that have very little. And many consider Viggo to be handsome so he shouldn't have so much.
