I'm slightly worried but I'm keeping my order. If there is staining, it should be coverable with the collar, which is supposed to sit quite far up the neck anyway. I'm also wondering if a little padding in the shoulders might raise the base of the collar and offset the head whether its size is an optical illusion or not...

Correct me if I'm wrong, right?

Those heads are made of vinyl. Panoxid 10% applied for a few weeks with the head in direct light works miracles for staining on vinyl. At least it works fine with old joes, Megos and anything I've tried so far.

Might work, but results likely different than those other examples if the neck is painted.

A possible solution might simply be a super thin ring of paper around the neck.

Even less finicky would be a piece of tape around the inside of the collar. Gaffer's tape for example, to it will match the original color.

To remove the stain has anyone tried good ol soap and water?

That won't remove dye that's penetrated into the plastic.

You can always launder the shirt in hopes of preventing staining - but you'll run the risk of damaging it if it's not robustly constructed - gently repeated hand-washing might work.

At the risk of sounding like an apologist for a QC issue, this seems like a very solvable problem. Im sure someone can come up with a better idea than mine.

If you have the ring it's shot.
Soap and water won't do anything. It's the type of plastic it's stained it's not on the surface. I tried nail polish remover and goof off. It's not going anywhere. Sandpaper won't work like I said it's stained deep.

What I did was wrap black athletic tape around his neck to prevent further staining and so that with subtle movements a consistent black inner collar will look a little less obvious than splotchy black spots on his neck.

Athletic tape wrapping for staining items has been effective one hundred percent of the time for years and years I've used it

Trouble is with this our heads are already ruined

Padding is the only thing that can be done and it helps a lot I'll post pics in a awhile but mine has padded shorts and padded chest that I've picked up from various crap along the years I also beefed up the shoulders with layers of athletic tape. He looks quite natural but the shoulders are still not wide enough. Their uniforms had shoulder pads in the show so they should be even wider. But that's not possible and not happening becuse the shirt is tailored to the Bruce lee body.

By the way, how can QMX recast a hot toys Bruce lee body for an officially licensed figure and not get their ass sued?

I also tried the suit on wider shoulder bodies like the regular narrow shoulder TrueType and the coulson and some of the more recent thinner world box and dam bodies.

It will not work the seams of the shoulders end up bulging where his bicep would be. Tunic is just too small

Yeah that would help create a more accurate look around the neck and shoulders... but it would also lift up the shirt and make it seem even shorter than it already is. So not sure that would help much.

Ugh. Every time I think I've convinced myself to keep this order, I find more reasons why I should probably cancel it...

If you are a fan of the character there is no reason to cancel! It looks spectacular. Aside from the easy to conceal stains...the figure is great.

Yeah even if the shoulders are not as wide as they should be, I get the sense from pics that it should still be possible to make them look at least a bit more square with some padding there. Which should help with the overall look.

Yup here he is with padded shoulders chest pad and padded underwear

Overall helps his proportions and the Lee body gives him the right height but the shape of his shoulders are wrong and he would be best suited on just a regular narrow shoulder turetype to get his head size looking right.

Stained necks and the aforementioned maroon color where it should be more red makes this QMX's worst of all time.

Shocking and disappointing I hope this does not mark the death of the line but i still want a head that's not damn stained and I want qmx to send me it at no charge IMG_4932.JPG

Bizarre choice of body there. As for the illegality of it, they and others have recast older Truetypes for other figures, and got away with it I guess. So Hot Toys may not pursue folks for that.

Photos or it didn't happen - even with photos, it probably didn't happen.

HT's Bruce Lee body/TTM-17 has a neck. There are other facsimile bodies out there from current producers that are not cast from HT's.

Have we seen this with any official licensed figure though? Star ace asmus and threzerro have original bodies as did enterbay

They kind of retooled the torso a bit but the arms legs and pelvis... straight recast

Yeah you did get the uniform looking really good there on the body. The only thing throwing off the proportions is just the size of the head I think.

I guess I could make a mold and shrink it down a bit, but that's a lot of extra work I'd rather not have to do.

What?
Anyways there's photos a few pages back and they cut off the neck

No one's posted photos in this thread to prove or show that the body has parts directly cast from an original Hot Toys body, let alone that the entire body has been re-cast. So what I'm saying is that you're throwing that accusation around without showing any proof - it's a pretty serious accusation.

If you've undressed the figure and also have an original HT TTM17/Lee body, you should post some photos showing how one is a clear re-cast copy of the other.

The PopCultureShock Sons of Anarchy figures use the Nth generation of the Wolverine 'hirsute' knock-off.

I think the ship has sailed on the recast argument. The vast majority of people don't care. If Hot Toys cared, they'd use a factory that didn't leak their stuff.

OEM bodies are so prevalent and the cost of developing your own unique body is so high, it's simply more financially prudent to use whatever body your production facility has available. Would you rather add $15 to the retail cost to stay on the moral high horse of it not being a recast body. The chances are high that it would be crappy, with loose joints or odd proportions. It just makes so much more sense to use a proven body that people prefer rather than reinvent the wheel.

I doubt QMX literally told their factory to recast the Bruce Lee body and modify it a bit. They probably just chose the best body their facility had available.

lol "Throwing accusations around"... the way you say things man.. makes me laugh.

You know what you're talking about but that's why people call you a troll it's the way you say things to people .

You gotta chill the aggression dude you never know when you might need something. Like the time you messaged me to paint those tryrion hands. Like I'd never do something for you now you know?

Goong off topic, imo the bickering on this site would drop by a significant amount with the use of a few well placed choice phrases:

I believe....

If i understand you correctly, .....

It's my opinion that...

Are you saying X? Is that correct?

Have you considered x?

You make an interesting point, but...

At least thats my .02.

The QMx guy himself said that he was using a "public domain" body, or something to that effect, when discussing Mal originally. And from my understanding, it was an earlier Truetype. But I haven't had one in-hand to see for myself. ThreeA used Truetype knockoffs.
