I actually think Kirk looks quite good. He looks a bit young but reasonably so for early 1980’s Shatner.

Data, on the other hand looks too old. His cheeks look weirdly hangdog, and the hairline seems way off. Is that the same head sculpt we’ve seen in earlier toy shows?

Kirk and Data are damn bad. Won't buy 'till/if they rework the sculpts.

I truly echo this sentiment. Should be easy enough to fix those sculpts before release. They need significant tweaks. Significant. But not necessary to start from scratch.

I think part of the problem with Kirk is the expression. It seems a bit too neutral particularly for a version billed from The Wrath of Khan. Also it could just be the lighting but his face looks washed out and the hair seems like it could be a shade darker.

They were able to improve Spock quite a bit, so I'm hopeful they'll be able to do the same with Kirk...

I also don't care for Kirk and Spock lookin' almost identical. Yes, yes... it's a uniform, blah-blah.
It was perfectly fine for TOS figures but I'd like some variety from movie based figures.
Kirk MUST come with excursion jacket from that one iconic scene!

No need for the undervest or anything, just one extra jacket.

Yeah I agree the coat should be a must for any TWOK Kirk figure. And I would gladly pay an extra $20-30 if that's what it required.

The Data criticism seems overblown here. Data's hair changed throughout the series, and right now the shots we have show the head pointing down, which is emphasizing his forehead. People's heads do look different when viewed from different perspectives, of course. I think the hair shape looks right for how Data appeared sometimes (other times his hair was fuller) it just needs to be darker. And some of the detail could actually use a bit of smoothing out, which will likely happen in production. If they can just darken the hair color, I'd be pretty happy myself.

The jacket definitely would be a great addition. If it’s not included with the standard release it could be a good QMX site exclusive.

I'm pretty sure if we were able to see it more straight-on, under lighting that doesn't emphasize the some of the angles of the face, people would have less issues with it. I agree I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more life in the sculpt, but it captures Data looking a bit quizzical which seems appropriate. The nose, mouth, jawline, and eyes are all there.

I think there is a fine line between constructive criticism and perfectionism to such an extent that the line is killed off. If it was easy to get the magical mix of sculpt and paint 100% for a price that's affordable then everybody would be doing it all the time. Most spot on painted sculpts sell for $600.

The outfits and equipment are as important as the sculpts. I can always trade up a head sculpt in the future but getting a spot on uniform will be very difficult. I'm willing to compromise to keep the line alive!

It’s not asking perfectionism in the case of Data. It’s asking for a sculpt that looks better for a high end figure. The one on display just doesn’t look that great. I’m a sucker for TNG and will likely pick up whatever is released to try and support the line but it’s not asking much to have higher standards. All the QMX releases have looked better and hopefully this is just a non flattering prototype.

Just moving K&S into a new cabinet in preparation for the chair, and discovered Spocks communicator lid is gone... total mystery, I've not touched him since unpacking. I wonder if QMX might let me buy a new one? ( I purposely didn't say 'replace' as it's clearly my fault)
