One thing I'm 100% certain of is that Nanjin will fight for trek until the very end and keep the train going with or without QMX. But I hope to see a few more official releases before that.

Yes there are definitely plans for the Trek line! I'm just hoping to see Uhura.

Yes, there are definitely plans for Star Trek - no announcement in 2 months and everyone is planning the wake already? QMx isn't like other companies that take 18 months after soliciting something to ship it. We want to have all our ducks in a row before any official announcement.

Nanjin won't be at SDCC, but I will be there for 1:6. He's busy in China working on production and planning.

This post gives me hope. I hope we get Scotty and Sulu and at least one more Next Generation character before the party's over. In a perfect world, we'd be a$$ deep in characters from every crew and Seven of Nine would be on her way but I'm not getting my hopes TOO high now.

I just picked these guys up. Ready for more!

Nah Nanjin sounds pretty confident that we'll be seeing a lot more Trek figures. I think they probably just needed time to reconsider their plans and which characters to focus on.
The thing is I’d like to believe Nanjin, I really would but half the time I view him as the overly optimistic fan who thinks something is happening when it seems like the reality is things have come to a screeching halt.

Who would be able to afford them all if they came out quicker? With all the other lines you are collecting? I remember when it was first said in which speed pattern they would come out that I was worried I miss out on some because of no money.

I don't think the lines dead. I think it'll continue but at a much reduced rate. unfortunately I do think we've seen the last of TNG.

It would be nice to get an official announcement of who's in the pipeline, and who actually has a realistic chance of getting out. Perhaps along the line of "we're hoping to get A B and C out over X period of time". Then we can sit back and get excited. "Big plans for Trek" is probably a little vague for those of us champing at the bit for any news.

What was the announcement 2 months ago? Last thing I remember hearing and seeing was the Captain's Chair, and Khan which were released and that was over 6 months ago.

Other then that it's just "we have plans" which isn't a announcement. We've all seen lots of "plans" in this hobby that fall through, and while other companies reveal a figure we have to wait a year to get in our hands, at least we see that there is production on the figures and a early pre order means they are serious about it coming out.

No communication makes people wonder what is going on, and question if the line is dead, especially when they look at the amount of figures that were released over the last year. Should we save our money for the quick release of a new Star Trek figure, or should we spend it on something else that caught our eye?

If not earlier preorders, perhaps more open communication to keep people interested, more pictures of production, a live video showing off protos, something, anything other then radio silence and "we have plans". I'm not talking about just the Star Trek line but Firefly too.

To be completely honest the lack of communication has caused me to move on, I'm collecting another line now from another company. I have the trio and I'm happy. While I would really love a Scotty, Uhuru, Sulu, Checkov, not knowing a rough idea of when or if they are coming has killed my interest. Considering how hyped I was for this line a year ago, makes me a little sad.

That's a bit harsher than I would put it, but I do agree the lack of news has sort of diminished my excitement for the line. Nanjin may have teased a lot of new figures over the years, but it's never been very clear how many of those we might see.

And personally I'd be perfectly fine with a longer pre-order window of maybe six months, to build up the hype and excitement a bit more like you see in the HT threads.

I honestly think the line should have focused on a trio from each series. They've done tso. It'd be nice to have Picard, Riker, and Data from TNG. Sisko, Odo, and Quark from DS9. Because I'm not particularly fond of the other two series skip ahead to Discovery and make Orca, Berman, and Saru. Hit the high points and hope that fuels interest in the second and third tier characters.

Yeah that would have been my preference too. Especially with the limited space for figures I have these days.

Nah I hate incomplete lines. I've never really understood some collectors obsession with different versions of just a couple of characters. Why have ten Wolverines but none of the other Xmen?

I'll be buying all of the TOS line they produce.

QMX has provided quality figures for a decent price. I've picked up every ST figure released so far, including Kirk's chair, and I am hoping that they eventually release at least the prototypes that they have shown so far. My main interest is in the OT and TNG lines, but would be open to other series figures.

I will say that I'm surprised that they haven't released a Locutus of Borg figure, considering that they already have the Picard sculpt to work from. Instant order for me, by the way.

Similar "alien" type figures, such as OT Kang and TNG Gowron (Klingons) would be successful releases.

I feel the same, after so many years - collections look a bit boring when it's the same set of figures over and over. Sometimes I don't get SW fans when they have 10 lukes, Solo, Leia, and no aliens. All that's different is the clothes, or head sculpt.

I wonder how some companies like Playmates - 12" Star Trek TOS, and Hasbro - 12" Planet of the apes can put out so many different characters and do fine but when other companies try they don't succeed or venturw as deep into the liscence. Grant it the figures are low grade when compared to today's standards, but when they came out they were able to compete with companies like 21st Century Toys, BBI, etc.

I really love these QMX figures and am very happy I have them. My wife and kids got me the chair for X-mas. I will support the line the best I can and hope that the TOS figures keep coming. It would be awesome to get some aliens and more bad guys. If they want a filler before other key figures a security guard (red shirt) might be the answer. I am not a collector that needs a hollywood somebody for a head sculpt, and a generic red shirt would fuel the customizers need for variety. -

Thoughts?

I think it's ridiculous that some collectors are assuming the line is dead, or that QMX is struggling. I don't know if they are or not, but there really hasn't been anything to suggest it. They aren't Hot Toys, or Sideshow, or ThreeZero, or any of these other bigger established companies. So it takes more time to release figures... the commitment seems to be there, and quite frankly, Star Trek is a license with a huge fan base, not just a singular movie or show.

I'm enjoying the TOS line so far, keep it up!!

And if for any reason you need to call it quits, before you do, make sure you hand over all your factory details to Sideshow, cause whoever is doing the manufacturing to allow you to produce this high quality at such a reasonable price point, should be getting more business!

One way to boost sales for secondary characters could be to put alternate head sculpts for Kirk and Spock in. Most obvious one would be Kirk with a scratched face in with Rand ( albeit creepy with all the me too stuff and what happened to the actress). But yeah, mix and match aliens or redshirt uniforms would be great.

I've already commissioned a custom Rand head because I though the odds of an official version were very slim but I'd still buy one if they made one.

I have all the Trek figures from QMX. I will buy anything offered from TOS and TNG. IF they have license for the new Discovery series--those would be instant purchases too...

I'd love a Burnham and Saru, but Nanjin already made a couple DSC figures (probably just for his own collection) and suggested the uniforms would be incredibly difficult to produce.

The best bet might be to wait a couple seasons and see if they switch everybody to some simpler TOS-style uniforms.
