Re: Quantum Mechanix 1/6 Star Trek The Original Series Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy

Bones beamed in today. I gotta say. He's the best of the three. Pictures don't do him justice.

I'll have to respect your opinion, Raymond, since you have him in hand, but he looks FANTASTIC in that pic above! Can't wait!

Re: Quantum Mechanix 1/6 Star Trek The Original Series Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy

Oh don't get me wrong he definitely won't disappoint! But I wouldn't say he's the best of the three. Stupid body choice aside, the only thing truly disappointing is the medical tunic. But that's ok because it's a bonus anyway

I don't see it as much of a choice, but rather what they have available that can keep the prices acceptable for customers. Engineering a new body can be very expensive.

The Kirk figure to me is pretty much perfect. Sculpt is spot on. If people are heralding this one as the best of the three released thus far, I have high expectations for it.

Can't wait to receive him, as I think that will likely be my last TOS figure. Looking really to just complete the Kirk-Spock-Bones triumvirate. IF I did get another, it'd definitely just be Scotty and that's all.

Unless Sulu comes out good, then I'd have to get Sulu. But then I'd have to have Uhura. But if you have Uhura, then it pretty much makes sense to get Chekov...........and Riley, I mean COME ON! How are you not gonna have Riley? And a couple Klingons....maybe an Andorean Oh, and the alien amoeba form Immunity Syndrome, BUT THATS IT!!! Except for Nurse Chapel....and Yeoman Rand. And OBVIOUSLY all of the Mirror Mirror variants. Maybe Gary Mitchell, because Kirk has to have someone to point the exclusive phaser rifle at. But that's where I draw the LINE!

I'm in for the main recurring cast up to Rand for sure. Kyle and Leslie don't get much love so maybe I'd even stretch to them :p I've ordered a custom Rand with TMP hair so that if Qmx gets that far, I won't have two the same.

The first figures I ever collected as an adult were Kirk, Spock and McCoy from Applause in the early 90s.
They were pretty much crap... What a long way we have come since then! I could die when I receive Bones and the circle would be complete!

I collected Playmates, Art Asylum, DST, Funko Reaction... But this is a dream come true for me to have such high quality figures of those beloved characters.

Thank you very much Nanjin and QMX from bringing these to us.
With the main trio complete, I'll take anything you'll put out!

Keep up the excellent work!

Re: Quantum Mechanix 1/6 Star Trek The Original Series Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy

I still haven't bought Bones but I'm not as tempted as I thought I would be. At this point I'm thinking of having a Kirk/Spock with Picard/Data display.

Re: Quantum Mechanix 1/6 Star Trek The Original Series Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy

I'm hoping to get this for my Birthday next month, can't wait for this!

Re: Quantum Mechanix 1/6 Star Trek The Original Series Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy

It's almost impossible to distill trek down to like 5 figures. But if I sbsolutely had to it would be these three in the TOS uniforms and Picard in the TNG uniform. So I think I'm pretty far along.

My next would be sisko in the FC later season uniform

Engineering a new body can be very expensive.

You have to go elsewhere for a body when you don't have the high volumes of someone like HT. IMO, it's better to make a thinner body and bulk it with padding/inserts for a more plump character (like Kirk). We see instead many bodies are oversized, somewhat like the TTM-18/Narrow-Shoulder style.

Re: Quantum Mechanix 1/6 Star Trek The Original Series Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy

I agree. They should have started with a thinner body and modify as needed. Bones and Spock are just a bit too buff.

I still appreciate these figures and am looking forward to seeing what additional releases are coming down the line. TOS Khan will be another instant pre-order.

Yeah it's a nice looking figure, but with so many others to pay for this year (Picard included) this one just isn't feeling like something I really need to have at the moment.

Yeah I went and broadened the chest on my Kirk, which I think helped quite a lot, but there's only so much you can do to narrow the body for Spock. I was hoping by this point someone would have tried either one of the generic slim bodies that are out there, or a Threezero Rick Grimes body that someone suggested earlier, but apparently no one has yet.

Re: Quantum Mechanix 1/6 Star Trek The Original Series Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy

I imagine a lot of folks aren't too keen to risk possibly stretching the tunics or damaging the braids in order to try and change bodies.

I agree that they should've started with a slimmer build body and bulked it up according to character from there. I don't know if QMX got the body from someone else or they designed their own from the start, at this point they're using it to their best abilities.

I've done it like fifty times to all three it's fine trust me nothing at all can happen to them . They don't stretch out
