The Hobbits won't happen for a long while. If they get that far. They'll logistically use bodies that have shareable pieces for a while, of which a custom Hobbit build would not match with.

That is "Hot Toys" thinking.
It is, but it’s also just smart business. Asmus also talked about the need to re-use bodies to recoup the RnD costs of developing them. Pretty sure it’s also why we saw the same size figure from Star Ace and never true teenage aged figures. I would imagine Queen will want to get settled after all the money they’re spending on licensing and startup production.

it's business thinking, literally every brand reuses bodies, accessories and the like, R&D is costly especially when it comes to developing, casting and mass producing a completely new body, your really think QS is going to do this for EVERY figure they make?

People need to stop putting them on such a high horse, their prototype isn't even a full final figure yet, like a lot of protos it isn't finished, hell today I learned that the handgun they passed off as diecast was likely bought on Taobao, this handgun is regular plastic and was produced by a big OEM factory that is currently doing products I'm working on, I was even sent a picture of it.

What thinking is this then?

It's great to see new folks coming in and shaking things up but we haven't seen an actual mass produced 1/6 figure by them yet, why are we being so quick to immediatly shut down every other company in the business? Yeah the Joker prototype looks awesome but a lot of things can change in mass production, a lot, especially when these figures are going to revolutionize every aspect of a 1/6 figure like Queen plans on doing, but aside from Joker they've only advertised their other 1/6 offerings with darkened movie screenshots, even passed off the Gandalf screenshot as a teaser of the actual figure, yet I don't see many people judging this, which is funny since we had all sorts of crying going on about the re-opening of pre-orders by resellers, which was obviously ridiculous, but latley I've been finding the insanely bad criticism of other brands and always putting QS/InArt on a pedestal just as ridiculous.

Furthermore we don't even know where they are going to produce their 1/6 stuff but I gurantee it won't be Hot Toys level since they have a monopoly over the best factories around, people falsely assume a figure is always produced in the same place but it is usually spread out across multiple factories in order to achieve a better final product, Hot Toys does it with their figures, I wouldn't be shocked if one day InArt Joker stuff shows up at some places where many third party and Hot Toys figure parts are also produced, sculpts included.

I also don't believe their production times will be better than everyone else, the situation in China is still very rough, production has been affected everywhere, not just figures, even before we had to deal with all these issues Queen was still having long waiting times from batch to batch, I think a lot of people are still impatiently waiting for another batch of their Alita bust, I'm not critizing them on this aspect I'm a firm believer that in most cases long production times result in an improved final product, this is just another point showing how everyone is jumping the gun and taking everything that's being said at face value, when we haven't yet held a 1/6 figure from them in our hands, excitment and optimism is awesome, I personally hope their Joker turns out great, I'm just tired of coming here and seeing every other thread being flooded with negativity and heavy criticism just because QS/InArt have now thrown their hat into the ring, let's wait for their actual mass produced product before we start burying other brands.

Just a couple months ago, when in-hand pictures were coming out for the Ash release, and Henrietta looked nothing like the prototype, to get people to stop canceling the set, Asmus took new, in-hand pictures of the prototype and tried to pass it off as the final product, insisting those earlier customer photos were just factory errors that would be replaced. Of course, no, they weren't factory errors, that's just what every piece looked like. And these problems happen with every release. Gandalf's hat doesn't fit on his damn head.

Queen is not the reason Asmus is heavily criticized.

I wasn't talking about Asmus, I was talking about the whole picture, I don't believe every company is crooked either, **** happens, nobody wishes to release a bad product, how someone goes about it is another matter entirely, just remember there's a lot of crazy stuf going on in the world, everyone is fed up including people who work daily in the factories putting together these figures, then you have to be overseeing everything and managing several products at once to make sure they all come out with the quality they deserve all while the factory is asking for more money, material costs keep rising, factory workers start making more mistakes, shipments get lost, retailers flake on you, supply chains get disrupted, all while you're putting money and time into developing new figures, it's an incredibly straining thing to do, and the InArt team will have to deal with all of that, remember, this isn't really Queen Studios we're talking about, it's a team of customizers led by another artist like them who's only had one production expirience and had issues with that as well, so let's wait for them to start putting out their figures before putting them above everyone else, and remember that no matter what there's human beings working on these dolls, so let's all try to be nicer to each other, especially during these crazy times.

Because there are those who believe the hype and take it as holier than thou just like overzealous HT fanatics.

That's why.

It's really just new optimism toward IPs that people have previously accepted weren't going to be getting the highest caliber of work.

Hot Toys treats DC like a second class citizen, and Asmus, though I do get the sense there's some passion from the team, have always struggled to meet their goals. InArt has put a spotlight on the grievances people have already had with these figures, and even if InArt completely drops the ball, the mere hope of something better has made people comfortable vocalizing what they've already been feeling this whole time.

I would say Ashgate was a huge factor there too.
Ash was a huge factor no doubt, and Asmus has had plenty if stumbles. QS isn't the reason they're criticised, but there's plenty of premature excitement coming at Asmus' expense, and all based on a speculation. If QS can deliver it'll be great to have a properly high-end 1/6 player in the mix, but wait-and-see seems to be the only sensible take right now.

R_R_X is cranky tonight.

I say, Dream while the Dreamin's good.
Just offering more insight into the whole process of making these dolls and trying to make people see how unrealistic their expectations for InArt are right now, it's great to hope for the best and show support, but InArt isn't the second coming of christ and right now they won't be able to reach the production level of Hot Toys, the more info I have about them the more I'm sure they'll be just like everyone else in most regards, quite frankly all the hype and criticism of other brands will do them more harm than good if the Joker figure doesn't live up to the high expectations they and collectors have created, I guarantee there's going to be massive backlash when they start delaying their products like everyone else because collectors have conditioned themselves to believe they will have insanely fast production turnaround compared to Hot Toys but when they start having one, two, three, and then eventually ten or more figures in production they will quickly realize time is everything, especially in these crazy times, but I agree, let's dream while we can but then let's not get cranky when we wake up and realize life is still the same! :lol

the more info I have about them the more I'm sure they'll be just like everyone else

Don't make me depressed about my $1,000 USD! This hobby has enough disappointments.

Anyway, I'm happy to have Queen enter the field. I have no intention of 'leaving' Hot Toys or Asmus. I look forward to their offerings as well.

It will all come down to how good that hair will look, but that statement was more in regards to how they and everyone else operates, if for some reason the final product ends up an absolute mess, which I hope and feel it won't, then you can look at it the same way I do my Cyberpunk 2077 PS4 copy, as owning a piece of history, bad history but still. 😆

A very Molecule8 vibe in here, but with more optimism. It was very 50/50 in that thread. Molecule promised the world .ie pianos, 18 wheelers, etc. There price was high for the time too. Why are these guys getting more love?

Really hope Berserk gets some love. Don't know why it's taking ThreeZero and Prime 1 so long to release a Golden Age Guts.
I think out of respect for muira they halted production on some things til time passes then they’ll release more. That’s my guess. That was prime 1 excuse

Because Molecule8 was some random company that was created out of no where. This is a well established company that's been in the high end collectible market for a while now, creating a sub department focusing on creating 1/6 figures. The team was also built with a well known custom 1/6 figure artist, VIPER. It's different than what Molecule8 did.

That's not to say all the love and constant bash on every company we're seeing in comparison to them is warranted. As excited as I am for INART to enter the field, it is annoying to see everyone praising them as some holy entity when they have yet to show any proof. I have my fingers crossed that they'll do a good job, as competition in the 1/6 figure market is beneficial for us collectors but people need to keep their expectations in check.

Too many companies with great looking prototypes that just completely fall on their face when production comes around (Sideshow, Asmus, Star Ace). I'm rooting for Queen/INART to succeed, as that will really send a strong message to everyone, but I also wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't turn out perfect. People are hyping it up way too much right now.
