How does the de minimis exemption work?

Anything $800 and below gets a pass from duties and tariffs as long as it's not made in China and soon Mexico and Canada included.

I don't think they ever declare those as toys but rather as statues or collectibles. Trying to remember if plastic toys to be exact what needs to be specified or at least majority of the composition. Either way, that's gone for now with the de minimis exception for China. Doesn't matter the commodity, as long as it is made in China, it'll get hit.
