Quentin almost seems like he's in costume in that last shot, wonder if he'll make a cameo.

With all that Ace Woody crap, it never even occured to me, he could always play that character himself. Like Jimmy from Pulp Fiction with a gun.

I know I thought the same when I seen that. He is either wearing that just to get into the zone or something or maybe your right he is going to cameo.

That whole Jimmy scene is hilarious and one of my favourites from PF. I would love it if he was in this.

Really hope Foxx delivers here. I'm mainly concerned about his delivery which is always the same and bugs the ____ outta me. Unfortunately his facial expressions go along with his line delivery and I can almost here him from these pics. He's still holding back my excitement for this despite everything else going for it. Unless he's impersonating there's a good chance that what I'm seeing here is what I'll here come trailer time.

The buzz coming out of Cannes was Foxx is on fire. It sounds almost like he steals the show here.

Great thread and thanks for bringing me up to speed . Just last week I watched Inglorious Bastards and thought what would Tarantino do next ? A tribute to the Spaghetti Western Tarantino style :slap I should have guessed! This is gonna be good !

I would prepare to be disappointed, then. That's the case with the vast majority of actors, whether you're talking Ed Norton, Leo Dicaprio, Sam L. Jackson, Philip Seymour Hoffman (barring his role as Capote) or whomever. I have no big problems with Foxx. I'm not a huge fan, but he's got skills, and charisma/style, which Tarantino obviously places a premium on.

Some directors wear the same kind of clothes that the actors are wearing to show their support or something. So that might just be it. He's not listed in the credits or anything.

I think he explains it in the Kill Bill making of stuff, but he dresses up for many shoots to kinda get in the zone. He was a Crazy 88 when he shot the Blue Leaves scene and Neca even made a figure of him in the costume.

With the exception of Sam Jackson I disagree with every actor you've listed and could list numerous performances from each. Foxx has been different twice and both times were impersonations, so I will agree with you that I should be prepared to be disappointed.

Eastwood dressed in Marine fatigues while directing Flags of our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima.

Eastwood said it was also helpful, as he was directing from such a close proximity to the actors, that if he got caught in the edge of a shot they wouldn't have to cut.

The only exceptions I can think of are these impressions you're talking about, either of specific character (i.e., Dicaprio's Hoover), or attempts at wacky accents. But even then you don't get away from the little quirks of each actor. Even Norton's characters that were disturbed or odd like the guy in Primal Fear still had all the basic Nortonisms. I don't think there's anything wrong with it. That's just the way most actors are. Not everyone can be Lon Chaney, or, to give credit where it's due, Daniel-Day Lewis--guys who have played pretty dramatically different characters over their careers to the extent that you might have a hard time even knowing it was the same guy if you didn't know better. I don't think Foxx is any different than most in this respect.

I'm fine with mannerisms and attempts at accents. I'm talking about line delivery (his intonation and phrasing) and the accompanying facial expression that goes along with it. I'd say others that do this are Jack Nicholson and Denzel Washington. The biggest difference being that they do it really well and it doesn't feel unnatural. Again I don't think he's bad, I just find his typical delivery annoying and would love to see him try something different with this.

I know exactly what you're talking about Woff.

But I think QT can pull something out of the actors we haven't seen before.

I'm excited to see Leo as a villain, Waltz as a hero, Foxx as a badass.

Pretty excited for this one.

Really excited to find out what that is then. Think your probably right Chaser.

Looks much lighter than I was expecting from all the early talks. Dicaprio seems to be channeling Tom Hanks from the Ladykillers. Can't wait for the trailer tomorrow.

I'll wait until Prometheus on Thursday night. It'll be cool to walk in fresh, and get a peek at a film that I'm excited for.
