Okay, well not really... Activision will see to it that the franchise (including "Modern Warfare") continues. And Treyarch actually did a decent job with "World At War" (and I look forward to their Vietnam entry). But... the Infinity Ward games are now almost destined to mediocrity.
We all know that the two heads of Infinity Ward were fired by Activision last month (and are now suing). But here comes what could likely be the beginnings of a mass exodus:
So, yeah... that pretty much leaves us with DICE and the "Battlefield" franchise (which I love anyway). Let's just hope EA continues to stay out of their way and we don't have a repeat of this Activision/Infinity Ward fiasco.
This is a big reason why I despise the mega publishers buying up all the major development studios. So far EA hasn't emasculated BioWare yet, but if/when that happens should we be surprised? They already killed Pandemic (literally).

Just over a month since Activision fired former Infinity Ward studio heads Vince Zampella and Jason West over alleged insubordination and breach of contract, two other high-level staffers have left the Modern Warfare developer. Kotaku learned that lead designer Todd Alderman and lead software engineer Francesco Giglotti left Infinity Ward via their LinkedIn profiles, though the specifics behind their departures are unknown at this time. The pair worked at the studio for 8 and 7 years, respectively. Alderman’s professional focus was on the game’s exceptionally popular multiplayer, and his departure is sure to leave an impact.
