Okay, well not really... Activision will see to it that the franchise (including "Modern Warfare") continues. And Treyarch actually did a decent job with "World At War" (and I look forward to their Vietnam entry). But... the Infinity Ward games are now almost destined to mediocrity.

We all know that the two heads of Infinity Ward were fired by Activision last month (and are now suing). But here comes what could likely be the beginnings of a mass exodus:

Just over a month since Activision fired former Infinity Ward studio heads Vince Zampella and Jason West over alleged insubordination and breach of contract, two other high-level staffers have left the Modern Warfare developer. Kotaku learned that lead designer Todd Alderman and lead software engineer Francesco Giglotti left Infinity Ward via their LinkedIn profiles, though the specifics behind their departures are unknown at this time. The pair worked at the studio for 8 and 7 years, respectively. Alderman’s professional focus was on the game’s exceptionally popular multiplayer, and his departure is sure to leave an impact.

So, yeah... that pretty much leaves us with DICE and the "Battlefield" franchise (which I love anyway). Let's just hope EA continues to stay out of their way and we don't have a repeat of this Activision/Infinity Ward fiasco.

This is a big reason why I despise the mega publishers buying up all the major development studios. So far EA hasn't emasculated BioWare yet, but if/when that happens should we be surprised? They already killed Pandemic (literally).

not sad b/c battlefield is soooo much better.

dice has their ____ together. :rock

:lecture We just better hope that EA doesn't pull this kinda crap with DICE. So far, so good though...

Still, Infinity Ward was a solid developer that pushed the envelope of the FPS genre at times. Hate to see this happen because of corporate a-holes.

Sucks because I hate when the corporate douches win, but MW2 kind of sucks compared to the first one and this might be good in the long run. Hopefully they can get the band back together with another company and come out with a better game.

I have a friend who works for Activision and believe me this is NOT a bad thing.

Treyarch/Infinety Ward caused more problems for the COD franchise than it needed.

They were allowed to cherry pick anything and everything from Activision designers but Activision was not allowed to use anything that Treyarch/Infinety Ward had.

Seems shady if you ask me.

I like the MW series but the glitches and the lack of effort to fix them is what pushed me away. BC2 is a better shooter overall and I can't seem to put it down (like 90 hours now in MP alone). :lol So I'm ok with just sticking with BC and taking seats with my boys. :rock

No offense, but I'm pretty sure your friend is corporately biased. Besides, Treyarch is still marching along.

Actually, that seems more like developers wanting all creative control instead of the publisher. Which, I don't know, kinda makes perfect sense. :huh

yea ! this really sucks.
ohh man no more soap and price adventures.
Call of duty will never be the same.

There will still be CoD games. They will just be even more crap than the last one because they will be made by different people. :lol

I love the multiplayer on MW2.
best FPS out there.

It's a very flawed, unbalanced multiplayer effort. One that is plagues by glitches, hackers, boosters, and cheaters, which have render the leader boards and once fun gameplay useless.

It's not the best game out there in terms of FPS multiplayer.

I'd say this should just about end the series chapter. *read the update at the bottom of the article as well*

It'll be interesting to see if the founders of COD start their own new series. I'm surprised they signed their new studio with EA though. Should be interesting to see how DICE and the new studio Respawn do under the same publisher.

Wow...that's interesting. Didn't most of the COD people leave Medal of Honor back in the day to create COD? Sucks that they have to do it again.

I find it amusing that Activision has basically bit off the hands that feeds. Basically the whole COD team from IW is leaving Activision dead in the water. It had to come to a head sometime. Geez, 13 team members thus far...they won't even have a company to boss around and make make a new cod game every other fall.

2 wasn't that good at all, but made them a crap load of money...now that the team is gone and disbanded I don't think we will be seeing a MW3 anytime soon? At least not a good one...

OK I will try to see this in a positive light which will not be easy.

Right lets give it a try

Infinity Ward did not transfer a lot of the magic of the first game over to MW2. A new team might surprise us and reinvigorate MW.

I just hope there will not be any problems with the use of Characters. Are they owned by Activision?
