Beautiful repaint! Mind sharing the recipe Robbie? :D

Burnt umber craft paint with a slight touch of white. Stipple over the whole thing to help add some texture avoiding the band but don't worry about getting it on there, its not a big deal. Then burnt umber and a touch of black for the band and edging of the brim in linear brush strokes. And that's it.

For me the only down side of this guy was the hat and it wasn't because of the color. The surface was too shiny. With a five minute repaint, you have 1:6 scale gold.

Im gonna give this a go! Thanks robbie! Gotta start from the back of the hat in case i mess up haha

Did a quick repaint of the hat.

So ****ing bad ass. The original has definitely been dethroned.

God that's so much better! Will you do a run of the brown hats? Possibly experiment with a brown felt material for it?

I don't know about dethroning the King though V1 still remains #1

If you mess up just put the hat in a cup of water with a dab of dish soap and let it soak. Paint will come right off and you can start over. I didn't mention I stripped most of the paint off the hat before I started. The reddish undertone wouldn't budge but the rest cam off pretty easy.

I have never seen one hat that I think looks good in felt. My opinion casting and paint is the only way to get hats to look good at this scale. Maybe there is a way to use fibers in casting but I have no idea. Even flocking doesn't seem to look right to me either. I really doubt I will start a new sculpt for brown hats. They are really difficult and I have already done the blue ones, so I have lost interest. The blue ones will go back up as soon as I get some of the other projects finished.
